keep your units light in colour. the undercounter fridges are fantastic for every day stuff and very convenient... I mean how often do you need to grab the random jar of paste in the back of your fridge? this can be in another room. have glass splashbacks around the room to add texture, illumination and reflection, add a hint of colour, or a textured glass splashback to add interest. invest in some great led lighting that can be installed in the base of your wall units. have a look at intoto ribble valley's traditional kitchens www. intoto.co.uk/ribblevalley for a few of our ideas and mixing door colours. good luck, it will be lovely!

i live in scotland too like JML garden room & tiredoldwoman. love mine. it's purple & velvety fuzzy like embzop's. you can stick in the washing machine & it takes no time to dry outdoors or in. i also have a light cotton kimono style house coat for in the summer. as i sleep in the buff it's nice to just shove that on when i get up & am wandering down to get breakfast. ps. i put it on after my shower but i dry myself with a towel beforehand.

Might be worth contacting velux as there's something very wrong. The conservation velux windows they offer are either pivot or top hung, maybe they offered side hung in the past but the black inner doesn't look like their finish. http://www.velux.co.uk/products/roof-windows/conservation-roof-windows Are you sure it's velux, there are other companies such as Fakro that also offer them, I think they do side hung ones for habitable rooms too. A meeting half way often saves a marriage. So, I propose leaving the covers off, but installing shelves above some, so that the items above detract from the radiators below. Also there are a number of skirting radiators (long and skinny) that can fit along the floor, so making this a no mess solution. There are also a number of amazing modernist styles that look like wall sculptures rather than radiators, so would look amazing displayed in the centre of the wall, rather than below and out of sight. These are options that instead of spending on a radiator cover, you may want to spend the same on replacing an ugly radiator with a more aesthetically pleasing one. There is something to be said about something that is ugly and gets covered. Why not chuck it out instead?
