This was a hand selected mix of Ashlar strip and square and rectangular Connecticut Fieldstone....each stone was literally selected as we all (client, builder and myself) stood to the side with a thumbs up or down. The mason was not happy.

What a lovely room. It just needs a few finishing touches to give it a lift. From your photos, the oak floor looks slightly orange in tone as do your storage units. Orange will only serve to accentuate this and bring little to the scheme. Blue is a contrast to orange, so you may want to consider this. Try laying some colourful clothes on your bed, one at a time to see how it works in the room. To retain a restful feeling, you need a blue that coordinates with the quilt, which looks slightly beige. This photo will give you the idea. Purple is another colour to try, but it has more visual impact. Remember, a little colour will go a long way in your room.

I'm no expert but it doesn't sound too bad for the work that needs to be done. We are 1.5 years into a build and thought once the dry shell was up that was the major expense/work...it's not! I think at the stage you are at we had spent about 40% of the total build budget (included drains and services to site) We are planning on a total spend of £1500 ( no vat) per m2 but that's with us doing all insulation, plasterboarding and lots of other work... Basically on site working everyday. Probably if a builder was doing the whole thing we would be close to £2000 m2 but would have been completed in half the time. The house does have UFH and triple glazing, I've looked for the best prices on everything but it's all good quality. Material prices seem to be rising a lot too. Hi Your room has nice proportions and I like the sofas. It's all a bit brown at the moment. And lacks the wow factor. I'd think about adding some colour. The cushions in particular aren't doing it for me. I'm reading a book at the moment where it advises to think about the colours you like to wear, as a starting point for decor. You could also introduce some variety of heights, possibly with a floor lamp. You have gone big with artwork which is good. Others will advise if alternative colours for the art might work better. A large rug will bring the edges of the room together more and make it more cohesive. Usually furniture looks better not placed against walls. Can you possibly do a sketch plan with measurements? This will allow people to advise on other furniture placements.
