Range- make, model? It appears to slide in under the countertop.

Can you explain how the range is built into the cabinets?

This is a slide-in range by GE from their profile series. The cabinets are on each side of the slide-in range. http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-specs/JS998SKSS

I have just had Cortizo 4700 3 track sliding sash doors fitted and am astounded that they are fabricated with internal drainage holes on the internal side of the threshold track which results in excessive condensation on the internal threshold track and bottom of the sash frame and window pane. Cortizo are fobbing me off saying its condensation caused by generalised atmospheric conditions which is rubbish because, as an experiment, I plugged these internal drainage holes and the cold air flow and condensation was eliminated. I don't know how Cortizo can make claims about thermal efficiency and air tightness etc when these internal drainage holes simply permit freezing cold air flow from the outside to the inside and cause condensation issues in the immediate area of these opern apertures. See photos If anyone can suggest an alternative sliding door system which does not have internal drainage holes, please let me know.

Wow - I can see that you have some lovely ideas - however, if you want to design this sort of renovation yourself, you will need to research building regs to make sure your plan is compliant (as they are mandatory here in UK, not optional) - also I’d suggest you look up fire regs too as you will need to protect your family’s route out in the case of an emergency. Then I’d suggest you research opening sunrooms into the main part of the house that will be under thermal values part of building regs and then look into walkway spaces required in a kitchen and space required infront of an appliance and then look at informal planning guides for distance of table to wall and best equation for choosing the right size tv for the distance away you’ll be seated. Add to that some knowledge of the heat produced by the gas fire and how heat rises and there for it might melt your tv which would be a fire risk. ... Hope I haven’t bored you with all that ! With a little bit of research and some drawing changes - maybe a few more days required . Then it will be lovely AND safe for you and your family !

yes I like the jungle idea possibly, though not sure if should keep with ivy as it matches whats currently there.. , not sure about the shelves or seating by the TV though. In the room next door there is an an 8 seater table, and a kitchen island, so its not as though this is the only place to have seating I guess. I like the ideas of natural look, almost Japanese, bamboo, bringing the garden in, just having difficulty with which wall colours, what to do with the post? keep white or make a colourful feature of it, and also what colour sofa bed, rug, paint on the walls to make everything blend in. It's so difficult, can't go for a lightish sofa, as it would just get too dirty, but I'm open to all ideas and very very much appreciate both yours and Rukmini's I have no idea how to put a room pic together like that so it helps massively. They have a lot of friends round, so a comfy rug /beanbags are also great, as long as we can also put them somewhere away too, so they're not in the way

sheesh I thought with a rectangular shaped kitchen things would be simple! This is definitely a learning process! I think if if we Switched to the 600 mm cabinet instead of the 900 corner unit we’d have to have a 50 mm ’filler’ unit or something to allow the over door to open enough....hopefully I can get him to just hold off on putting more things in until it arrives so we could see how it works....I have such limited time outside of work and don’t have a job I can just swing an hour off from to go to showrooms and thints, so I just ordered the range cooker online after reading reviews. They all seem to come in either 90, 100 or 110 cm, so I just went with the smallest ‘standard’ one. when we first reserved the house I asked if I could modify the kitchen a bit, specifically put a range cooker in. He said no problem (it’s a small local developer, not one of the big companies) and that I could work out all the plans with their kitchen planner....I spent about 2 hours with her and went through a lot more emailing her back and forth to get it right...some good that’s done! im thinking the range cooker along the wall won’t work either unless I lose the peninsula thing altogether because there’s not enough room- which would sacrifice a load of counterspace....unfortunately we need the door to the living room otherwise there’s no way between the kitchen and living room without going outside! The ground floor layout is below although the kitchen plans have since been updated...
