A key feature of the project is the basement stair linking kitchen to basement which is set below a large rooflight to flood the heart of the basement with natural light and provide natural ventilation. This composition allows the study room at the front of the property to have views across the stair void towards the garden. The stair itself is an elegant structure designed with the site joiner. Meanwhile, the stair leading from the rear lightwell up into the garden works equally well with a patterned glass platform, which forms a lid to part of the lightwell.
