I'd like to know the aspect of these glass rooms, as they do suffer from solar gain in the summer months and can end up providing the same problem that conservatories did. The key in my opinion is to cleverly manage the amount of glazing and to consider as design stage blinds, verandas or other solar shading devices rather than trying to bolt them on at a later stage which can look clumsily.

We recently installed a concealed blind to a small south facing glass roof. This works brilliantly as when the blind is rolled up it is concealed within the wall and isn't visible, and gives a full uninterrupted view of the sky.

agree you can have too much glass, especially for the roof. we designed a glazed apex detail and inserted roof lights into a zinc panelled roof for this replacement 'conservatory' which has the best of both worlds!
