Early Victorian Cottage

This Victorian farm house revival was built in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, a town which has long a vacation destination and where the Victorian style is well preserved. The owner's family has had a home in the community for over 100 years, and when they decided to build a new home on a piece of land close to downtown, they wanted it to reflect the Victorian history. The owners are avid gardeners and the house takes full advantage of the large garden areas on either side of the home. This garden has been surveyed by the Smithsonian Museum's living gardens center as a newly executed example of a proper historical southern mountain garden.
