ES ist vollbracht, ein Unikat ist entstanden. Als erstes wurde die alte Küche abgebaut und die Elektrik für die neue Küche und die neuen Leuchten verlegt. Danach wurden die alten Fliesen entfernt, die Wände verputzt, geglättet und in einem zarten Rosaton gestrichen. Der wunderschöne Betonspachtelboden wurde von unserem Malermeister in den Raum gezaubert. Dann war es soweit, die neue Küche wurde geliefert und die Montage konnte beginnen. Wir haben uns für eine polarweiß matte Front mit graphitgrauen Korpus (Innenleben) entschieden. An den Fronten finden unsere gedrechselten, massiven Nussbaumknöpfe ihren perfekten Platz, die mit der maßangefertigten Wandverkleidung (dahinter versteckt sich der Heizkörper) und der Sitzgruppe super harmonieren. Selbst die Besteckeinsätze sind aus Nussbaum gefertigt. Die Geräte stammen alle, bis auf den Siemens-Einbauwaschtrockner, der sich links neben der Spüle hinter der Tür verbirgt, aus dem Hause Miele. Die Spüle und Armatur kommen aus der Schmiede der Dornbracht Manufaktur, deren Verarbeitung und Design einzigartig ist. Um dem ganzen die Krone aufzusetzen haben wir uns beim Granit für einen, nur für uns gelieferten Stein entschieden. Wir hatten diesen im letzten Sommer in Italien entdeckt und mussten diesen unbedingt haben. Die Haptik ist ähnlich wie Leder und fühlt sich samtweich an. Nach der erfolgreichen Montage wurden noch die weißen Panzeri Einbaustrahler eingebaut und wir konnten die Glasschiebetüre montieren. Bei dieser haben wir uns bewusst für eine weiße Oberführung entschieden damit am Boden keine Schiene zu sehen ist. Bilder (c) raumwerkstätten GmbH

In this kitchen remodel we installed Medallion Silverline Full Overlay Maple cabinets with Chestnut Stain in the Lancaster Door Style for the perimeter cabinets and Medallion Silverline Lancaster Full Overlay Maple cabinets with Gingersnap Stain for the island. The perimeter countertop is Black Pearl granite and the island is New Venetian granite. The backsplash tile is Tumble stone Travertine in Roman pattern with 2x2 White Travertine in Mesh Mosaic. Moen Brandtford Pull Down stainless steel faucet. The flooring is Engineered Oak Plank Hardwood by Kraus.

On one side you have a bank of tall units which is the main storage and cooker centre. In the centre behind the bespoke oak roller shutter is the Budds breakfast centre. The coffee machine, toaster and a small sink with Quooker kettle tap is all housed within this compact area that can be closed off when not in use. Either side of that is two top of the range Siemens single ovens, a steam oven, compact microwave and oven as well as two warming drawers. The major objective of this home was to craft something entirely unique; based on our client’s international travels, and tailored to their ideal lifestyle. Every detail, selection and method was individual to this project. The design included personal touches like a dog shower for their Great Dane, a bar downstairs to entertain, and a TV tucked away in the den instead of on display in the living room. Great design doesn’t just happen. It’s a product of work, thought and exploration. For our clients, they looked to hotels they love in New York and Croatia, Danish design, and buildings that are architecturally artistic and ideal for displaying art. Our part was to take these ideas and actually build them. Every door knob, hinge, material, color, etc. was meticulously researched and crafted. Most of the selections are custom built either by us, or by hired craftsman.

You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. That said, if you do have the room, take a look at some kitchen island ideas to see if the designs inspire you for your kitchen. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. However, there are now lots of pull out compartments and drawers with trays and shelving that can act as mini kitchen pantries, and you can install handy cupboard organisers that fit onto the inside of the door to make the most of your cupboard space. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage. Rails or small shelves along your kitchen walls or splashback can help with hanging utensils or pans, or storing small items like herbs and spices in an usually empty space. If you’re working with a galley kitchen, a one-wall kitchen in an open plan space or just a pretty small kitchen, there are some small kitchen ideas that can help you get the most out of your cooking and dining area. If you find that you don’t utilise the back of your cupboards (maybe they become the graveyard for out-of-date tin cans), you could decide to go with shallower kitchen units to free up some extra floor space in front of your cabinets. However, if you have the capacity for it, cupboards and kitchen units that maximise the floor-to-ceiling space you have will mean you can use all of that for valuable kitchen storage. Kitchen ideas and accessories such as baskets, trolleys and storage jars are both aesthetically pleasing and practical as they give you extra storage space.
