The brief
The house was undergoing a large-scale ground floor refurbishment and extension. We were briefed to work with the builder and architect plans to create an open-plan family kitchen that would complement the mid-century style of the property.
Our bespoke kitchen design
We designed an in-frame, painted shaker kitchen in Elgin Grey with Kongistone’s Bianca Toscana quartz for the main furniture run. The large island with breakfast bar is in Fired Charcoal with a Laminam worktop in Statuario Altissimo. Laminam is an Italian brand that manufactures beautiful, high-quality sintered ceramic stone for internal and external surfaces.
The in-frame design has a timeless and elegant quality to it, especially in this classic colour scheme. The Elgin and Charcoal greys just work so beautifully together. The window seat is an added feature that really makes the most of the large picture window and views out to the garden.
The double ovens with warming drawers are the ever-popular Slide n’ Hide by NEFF, and the stunning hob is a BORA Pure with downdraft extraction. Chelsea chrome handles by Crofts and Assinder complete the look.
One of our favourite design features in the kitchen is the secret door through to the utility room. The doors were created to slot into the kitchen design seamlessly and are situated next to the NEFF ovens to look like cabinets when not in use. We just love the end result.
The bespoke utility room is also a shaker design in Elgin Grey with the Bianca Toscana quartz worktop but with a lay-on style door.
All in the detail
For the dining area, we designed a dresser with glassware cabinets, extra storage and a Dunavox full-height, dual-zone wine cooler.
Due to the building work associated with the new extension, the ceiling is much lower here, which required a completely bespoke design to fit the space and match the rest of the kitchen.
