Kitchen and dining room remodel with gray and white shaker style cabinetry, and a beautiful pop of pink on the tile backsplash! We removed the wall between kitchen and dining area to extend the footprint of the kitchen, added sliding glass doors out to existing deck to bring in more natural light, and added an island with seating for informal eating and entertaining. The two-toned cabinetry with a darker color on the bases grounds the airy and light space. We used a pink iridescent ceramic tile backsplash, Quartz "Calacatta Clara" countertops, porcelain floor tile in a marble-like pattern, Smoky Ash Gray finish on the cabinet hardware, and open shelving above the farmhouse sink. Stainless steel appliances and chrome fixtures accent this gorgeous gray, white and pink kitchen.

The addition included this gorgeous custom kitchen, a large mudroom with a locker for everyone in the house, a brand new laundry room and 3rd car garage. As part of the renovation, a 2nd floor closet was also converted into a full bathroom, attached to a child’s bedroom; the formal living room and dining room were opened up to one another with custom columns that coordinated with existing columns in the family room and kitchen; and the front entry stairwell received a complete re-design. Of course you might be constricted by space, but try to envisage the easiest and most efficient layout based on how you usually like to cook and prepare your food. You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage.
