Reviving a bland mid-century ranch in Muttontown
Midcentury Games Room, New York
The rooflines on the original family room were asymmetrical, creating a chaotic cathedral ceiling. The rooflines were rebuilt to create a hip roof, that yielded a balanced tray ceiling inside.
A new masonry fireplace was designed on the far wall of the Family Room, and was constructed of cubic limestone with embedded fossils that the architect sourced from Union Marble in Westbury.
