“Carnemark designed and implemented two major renovations for our home. We had used other contractors in the past, but they are the first ones we ever hired back for a second project. We are already thinking about our third with Carnemark! The first project was primarily outdoor work which was a combination of modernizing our look and fixing some water problems -- stuccoed the exterior, installed a metal roof, installed a glass and metal front door entrance and garage door, buried electric and cable wires, replaced cement driveway, installed slate and stainless steel rails at front entrance, installed new outdoor house and yard lighting and fixed a leaky basement wall. We were so pleased with this work, that we rehired them 2 years later for an interior overhaul -- new modern kitchen, reconfigured floor plan, updated bathroom, installed stainless steel railings and steps, new lighting, new air-conditioning duct work and radiators, and new large format tile flooring throughout.”

Michael's easy demeanor helped us to make difficult decisions when it came to the layout and design of our three-story addition. His recommendations, which sometimes we were unsure about given this was our first venture into the world of home additions, turned out to be spot on!! One of the major requirements for our project was that it not look like a box added to the back of our house. It wasn't until our project was completed, that we truly understood how Michael's design fit in with not only the existing house, but our property. “There are many architects and builders but few who have the skill, experience, and vision to design and build a green house. Looking for a modern architect in the area, we found Patrick's website and we got to know him before we hired him. We liked him immediately and never "interviewed' anyone else. We never regretted it. He shared our desire to build lightly, letting the surroundings influence the design and materials. He artfully brokered the inevitable differences of opinion between husband and wife, and we enjoyed the consultative process of working out the design together as a small team. After the design was complete, we were happy to have him build the house, too, which has worked out beautifully. On complicated custom houses, there are many situations where unforeseen circumstances or questions arise, and things move more quickly and smoothly when the person responsible for constructing the house is the same person as the person who envisioned it. The house is not yet complete, but we are currently on budget (more or less) and the product is a work of art. I have suffered through many residential and commercial building projects over a lifetime, and this is the first one I've enjoyed. If you're looking for a person with the sophistication and experience to design and/or build a complicated "dream house," Patrick is your man. And if you're not sure, ask him to take you to our house and show you what he is capable of creating. I think you'll come away a believer!”

“I have worked with Michael Oxman and Associates on numerous projects, both personal and for my real estate sales and rental business. I find the firm to be highly professional and qualified and especially consistent in determining what it is that I want to build. We work together to bring about design plans that always exceed my expectations. One particular personally owned project is located in Free Union, Virginiaon 75 acres. There were 3 phases to this project. The first was to remodel an historic old home into a beautiful cozy gatehouse that would become fully equipped with such amenities as gourmet kitchen yet retain all of its original character. Located at the entrance to our property adjacent to a mountain stream, the Oxman firm transformed a run down farm house into a lovely modernized home. The second phase was to design a lake which the eventual large log home would overlook. Finally, the log home itself was designed. We initially met for 2 full days and spent over 20 hours on preliminary sketches. Taking hand hewn logs from a 200 year old barn these would form the core of a gorgeous structure that has 3 main bedrooms, an apartment over a 3 car garage, exercise and game rooms, a wine room, a second 3 car garage for antique car projects, an indoor heated pool, a gourmet Tuscan kitchen, and a Great Room with massive stone and log fireplace. All of this taking in 360 degree views in a Little Switzerland setting. One of the things I am most impressed with is the initial time spent with owner/developer to go onsite equipped with exact topographic details and the time spent revising the initial sketching until we are satisfied.”
