Through the design of the 1.5 floor layout and inclusion of clever storage partitions, we were enabled to fully utilize the modest floor space. All sections of the unit remain bright and airy, as the overall layout respects the natural lightning from the original windows.. Needless to say, service was friendly and professional!”

“Simon the owner of Devlin Architects is not an ordinary square box Architect. He designs really cool concepts taking your vision to reality. He is very professional yet friendly. He is organised and things like drawings, invoices etc are all version controlled etc. I had needs for a wheelchair user and he made my extension a dream come true. There were changes, tweaks and nothing was too much. My only reason for 4stars is Project Management. This isn't always clear from the package so clarify expectations. Equally I am a control freak so may have involved myself more than needed. Simon's ideas are awesome but remember cool designs can stretch budget - so be clear on your priority as Simon will help you achieve it.”

They went carefully through our preferences and wishes, redesigned the kitchen space and living area and brought the electrics, heating and other services up to date. One key requirement was to maintain the ambience of the original, which they did - while modernising the elements that needed it. “About 5 years ago we started to think about building a new sustainable and adaptable home in our garden. The land is in a conservation area with a mixture of grade 1 and 2 properties around us. It was not going to be easy. AMA had successfully developed some land in the same conservation area so that was a real plus point. We short listed 4 architects and they all had a portfolio of work that were attractive to us. We met them all to access the "chemistry". Michael and Rob at AMA came across as very helpful and easy to work with. The initial planning application was withdrawn as we became aware of objections on the advise of AMA. They were right. Their knowledge of local planning policy and how to best make a successful planning application was invaluable. I had my doubts that we would get an approval but AMA were always confident. The second amended application which was a complete redesign went through with surprisingly few conditions and the resultant house we feel is much better for us. It answers our brief and much more. Rob was the lead architect and throughout the process he has been most helpful. This was our first self build and it was a complex build with a few "wow" elements requiring careful consideration. He was always quick to respond to calls and e mails and has proven a really helpful contact. I decided to self project manage the build which has proven quite demanding and frustrating at times but as the build comes to the end and the rooms are now decorated and furnished the space that Rob has created is well beyond my expectations. We have a beautiful home which I am very proud of and its design, flow and feel is down to Rob.”
