“I wish I could invite you all in to see my spectacular brownstone in Brooklyn. I had owned it for 20 years when I hired Deborah Gans to save it (it was collapsing) and reinvent it (it was a warren of awkward rooms). She turned into an airy, light-filled, elegant but modern, completely comfortable but also gorgeous home. She knew when to spend money, and when to hold back. She was inventive without being scarily inventive. When there were problems, as there always are, she figured out how to solve them, and held my hand at the same time. There is not one thing I would change. I feel like the luckiest homeowner ever.”

“Kim Hoover designed our house. During the process, she continued to turn challenges into opportunities to improve the project. Working off an existing sub-optimal foundation, she created a plan to maximize a great view, nestle the house into the landscape, and turned what would have been a dreary basement into a sun-filled room. She worked well with clients -- always listening throughout the process -- and with builders and contractors. Kim takes responsibility for her work, is on time and on budget. Her aesthetic sense is classic but imaginative. She's resourceful about new products on the market as well as time-honored techniques to make a house a showplace. In each stage of the process, Kim added value. We cannot wait to work on another project with her.”

“I hired Madeleine based on recommendations from several friends, and I am extremely happy I did!! I will definitely use her again. She has great taste, is a good listener, helped me with everything from the big picture to the small details. Her site reports are highly organized, detailed and timely, and proved to be very useful in documenting exactly what was communicated to and by the contractor and when. She was a fair and effective mediator between us and the contractor, was vigilant in ensuring the project continued to progress, and kept it within budget. “Annie is a charming, well-educated designer who is both an architect and a designer. I was very excited about hiring someone with her expertise. Especially, since my prior experience with another designer was nothing but an expense and disappointment. The project is a country house, a log home. We are half way through and I am happy with the progress and the services. Annie came up with a bunch of great suggestions / ideas on how to best utilize the available space, including building a closet. She was a great resource in many ways, be it a finding an structural engineer or helping with the right TV for the Living Room. Some of the selected paint colors are outstanding! I look forward to the completion of the project.”
