“In 2011 I engaged the services of Smook Architecture to conceive, design and oversee the construction of a new, 2,600 SF, hurricane-code compliant, second-home, on the water, in Centerville, MA. The home was completed in July 2012 and we are extremely pleased with the finished home, with the details and design elements it includes and with the many compliments it engenders for its contextural design, choice of materials, placement on the site and practicality of use. I would use Smook Architecture again and can recommend their collaborative, insightful services to others without reservation. This was a fun process where our wishes were respected, yet professionally challenged, when appropriate, where a design concept was presented, refined and then adhered to, and where the supervision of the building process was handled professionally, firmly and timely. I would not hesitate to use Smook Architecture for future projects, in fact, I would look forward to it!”

“Don Richardson was such a pleasure to work with as his design, creativity, knowledge and professionalism were brilliant. Several times, Don went the extra mile (literally) to bring samples, discuss decisions and patiently explore alternatives. His rapport with the crew was fabulous and led to very smooth execution of the project, basically a guest house on our property for our extended family. Don designed the bedroom of our young grandson as a totally sweet cabin room with a stunning view of the trees around it. Our grandson woke up the first morning in his new room, whispering to his mother that he was in the middle of a forest!”

Stephanie worked with us by developing several designs and options since we were removing a stairwell and walls to double the size of our kitchen. She came up with an amazing design and all the structural drawings our contractor needed to make the plan a reality. She worked with us throughout the process. We just celebrated the completion of the project by having dinner around our amazing new kitchen island. Stephanie is a very talented architect, a great listener and deeply committed to her clients. We are already starting to talk about our next project together - a new bathroom and laundry area. The photos below are before (green kitchen) and after (orange and blue kitchen).”
