“Hill House is a 16th century former farm house, the main part of which had been converted into modern living accommodation some time ago but which had an adjoining single storey outbuilding/small barn, used for storage, with the western aspect facing onto the Lyth Valley. The brief to Tim Chetham was to develop plans which would see the conversion of this outbuilding into a 2-storey development consisting of a living room and en-suite bedroom, ensuring that the new blended seamlessly with the old, and importantly, maximising the views onto the spectacular Lyth Valley. In scoping the project, Tim engaged well with us and gained a thorough understanding of our requirements. He translated our ideas, some of which were modified by his suggestions, into drawings which, when the final build was completed, exceeded our expectations by, internally, opening up the flow through the ground floor rooms, and upstairs an en-suite bedroom making effective use of the space and, importantly for us, maximising the views from both rooms. Tim met all agreed tasks on schedule and was within his quotation. We would certainly use his services again if required and would have no hesitation in recommending him to others - which we have already done!”

“I cannot recommend or thank this company enough .I knew it was going to be somewhat of a struggle convincing my mother that some changes need to be made in her home of 40 years ; if she was insistent on staying there. However , as soon as mum saw the stylish designs , realising it WAS NOT going to look like a 1950’s nursing home as well as meeting the professional “ family “ team she couldn’t wait to get started. The result is magnificent and what at first became the bathrooms soon stretched further throughout mums home; maybe as they are the most spotless installers I’ve ever come across . Not the cheapest but certainly competitive on pricing. But what our family is most grateful for was that knowing our mother was content and SAFE within her own home. “We turned to Phil a few years ago to help us maximise ground floor family living space in our existing three bed semi-detached as cost effectively (yet stylishly) as possible. The result was a beautiful larch-clad living room with sliding ("better than bi-fold for withstanding Cumbrian weather" advised Phil) doors and views across to the neighbouring fells. This extension allowed us to remodel the existing ground floor providing a new, larger kitchen as well as ground floor bedroom with ensuite - essential as I have a muscle-wasting disorder. Phil was brilliant to work with. He listened to us and created something that answered our initial brief but was always very good at pushing back when something could be better - particularly around access / tips and tricks for making the space as disabled-friendly as possible without compromising aesthetic. He was always at the end of the phone for queries and he made the process of acquiring planning permission as painless as possible as he has excellent relations with all the key stakeholders. I would not hesitate to recommend Phil - he has given us 7 extra years in our current house, and we're now delighted to be working with him on another, larger and more complex project - but more on that in a future review!
