“For our project, my wife and I wanted to build a house that "fit in" on a street full of charming 19th century New England style homes. Eric Gilmore, president of Gilmore Building Company, a custom home builder in central MA, worked with us and his architect associates to develop a concept that combined our custom floor plan goals with traditional architecture using the Greek Revival style prevalent on the street to build a "new old home". To complete the look, Eric custom designed many of the exterior and interior trim and molding patterns himself. The exterior design turned out to be so authentic that at one point later in the construction phase, an acquaintance that didn't know we were doing this house project remarked to me as we drove past the construction site, "Aw, isn't it nice that someone is restoring that beautiful old house?" ... but it was this new house: goal exceeded! This was our first custom home, so we were looking for a low risk, low stress process. What started as a load bearing wall coming down ended up an unimaginable Beautiful, gorgeous "big" living room which I get many compliments to this day. “We had a major addition put on our house 5 or so years ago. They came in at or under schedule and budget. Our neighbors were all impressed that there was never a workday in which someone wasn't there working. We mentioned that we, along with our then 4 year old son, would need to stay in the house for all but the painting phase, and so they asisgned us a lead who, as a parent himself, was totally empathetic to our needs. Every day the worksite was left broom clean, the crew members were to a one courteous and mindful of our child (I've never been on a worksite with as clean language in my life). The workmanship was excellent, and when time cam this year to replace an old bay window, we went back to them. The original installation of the window, done we think in the 1970's, was nowhere near proper. and the Harvey team is doing a terrific job of proper installation of the new one.”

They were also extremely conscious of my desired budget range and timeline for the project. Once the renovation started the onsite team was extremely polite, professional and engaging. When I would show up onsite they would take time to explain what they were working on and show the progress they had made. I also received lots of positive feedback from neighbors on my street on the professionalism of the onsite crew. Neighbors were very happy to see that the crew took time at the end of every day to fully clean up the work site. The project met both the timeline and budget parameters that were set forth at the start of the project. The finished project is beautiful and I couldn't be happier with Cutting Edge Homes.
