“After years of searching, we recently bought our dream home - an old farmhouse with a barn conversion in Nottinghamshire. Neither my husband or I have a creative bone in our body, so when we read an article about Howson Design we invited Katy round immediately! Katy took the time to learn a little bit about us, how our family functions in our new home and to understand our budget. She created an array of mood boards for each room - including visuals of furniture, lamps, accessories, paint charts and swatches for fabrics and carpets. “We appointed Caroline Bolt to provide interior design for three rooms, living room, bathroom and bedroom, as part of a project to improve a house that had seen little work for many years. From the start, Caroline "got" the style that would work for us, no small feat given that there were no clues in the property as it was at the start. She has enabled us to make much better use of space, creating the storage we need and encouraging us to think about making changes that have given us more physical space in the bedroom. Combining the old bathroom/toilet enabled us to fit in everything we wanted and still have room to move around, something I struggled to envisage at first but which has worked excellently in practice. Caroline has provided designs for key pieces of furniture to accommodate specific needs such as a collection of vinyl records and to fit the space as she planned it. This way we have achieved just the look we want without having to spend forever struggling to find just the right pieces. Caroline's connections with local suppliers and manufacturers have been very useful. Best of all, Caroline took us from a position of not even knowing where to start to actually enjoying what could have been a stressful process of turning our house into one that is a sheer pleasure to live in.”
