Main bedroom dilemma: Bedroom layout, walk in wardrobe(?)
Comments (9)Just a thought, what about putting the bed against the wall of the walk in wardrobe and you can still have your headboard, no need to change or move a radiator and the wife's side of the bed would be next to the wardrobe entrance. It's all a bit cramped by the looks of things and while you'll have your ensuite and your walkin wardrobe you'll still be walking into a box room. Another thought I had to to lose the bedside cabinets and increase the appearance of space would be in to have the bed side lights on the partition wall and the storage built into the stud wall with pull out shelves for those breakfast in bed moments and cups of tea. Change the door to open onto your landing as well!!! Good luck...See MoreBedroom layout and ensuite advice needed please
Comments (14)I think that this house sits well and I don't think the rear is currently unsightly but I think if you block up one of the upstairs windows at the back it will look strange as a window will clearly be missing (further compounded by having difficulty matching brick). One possibility would be to render the back to hide patched brickwork but personally I think that if you were going to spend money on that you should spend the money on a drain and soil pipe (est.: £2500) which would allow you to take the big bedroom over the lounge as the main and to have a big ensuite with WC off the main (in bed 3) plus a bathroom with WC in the original position. To keep it as a four bed I would then have a modest fourth bed at the side where the current WC is or consider splitting bed 4/5 again (or only do that a week before selling if you prefer three double bedrooms). In my opinion you should work out what is the ultimate layout for the house and do that when budget allows rather than try to do everything on a shoestring. One further thought- if you are trying to make the downstairs feel bigger, free up a little space by moving your laundry facilities upstairs....See MoreNeed advice for my bedroom makeover, please!
Comments (10)I think decorating with red can be difficult but in my opinion there are some tricks. Firstly I would choose a wallpaper that has a pattern. Be mindful of your desire to make the room elegant and avoid retro patterns, abstract swirly patterns and high contrasts of colour such as red and white or red and black. If you find a pattern you like such as the pictures included you will have a palate of three colours you can use which makes it easier to make decorating choices- for instance if you chose the Wysteria pattern- you could add this to either the whole room or a feature wall then consider the grey colour for the remaining walls. Personally I think the plain duvet needs a Chunky knit throw and the bedside tables need a bigger more ornate table lamp. In my opinion your current rug is probably too modern to tick the opulent/ luxurious/ elegant boxes. https://www.wallpaperdirect.com/products/farrow-ball/wisteria/146845 https://www.wallpaperdirect.com/products/matthew-williamson/menagerie/136974...See MoreAdd a bedroom in 2bedroom bungalow
Comments (8)I think if the location works for you and you can afford to extend, and can’t find a better alternative then it make sense to extend. Especially if you’re going to stay for a while! We are nearing the end of quite a big extension/refurb and it has cost a lot, but is cheaper than moving would have been, and we are aiming to stay here for the foreseeable future, so it felt worthwhile spending the money. If you’re extending, moving walls, new bathrooms and kitchens, it will rapidly add up, as you’ll also need new Flooring, extra windows etc Is there enough head height in the loft to do a partial loft conversion perhaps?...See Moreswissdixie
