Comments (33)White or pale walls are ok, DOn't feel that the only way to decorate4 is by painitng the walls. Decide if you want white on white scheme, or a pop of colour. If so, cushions and curtains are the way to go. Decide on a colour and stick to it. TRy the 70-20-10 rule where your 70 is white4 (your walls) and 20 is curtqains and cushions and 10 is a secondary colour such as gold or silver for hardwaqre and ornaments and presto you're done....See Moreadvice on master bedroom wall colour
Comments (20)Hi Anna, have you considered a monochrome interior? The versatility of monochrome allows it to be combined effortlessly with other styles such as Scandinavian or industrial chic. It’s an easy look to achieve and if done correctly looks stunning. You just need to remember to vary tints and shades of a single colour to great effect otherwise you’ll end up with a ‘monotonous’ look. If you’re looking to create a softer Scandinavian approach to your living room then select brown shades. Warm up the monochrome palette with a super-soft carpet, such as Cormar’s lustrous Sensation collection, and lots of cosy textures that soften the edges and keep it homely. Hope that helps!...See MoreMaster bedroom / ensuite advice
Comments (14)Hi Emma, there are a few considerations required before coming up with a solution. The budget is crucial, as moving the whole bathroom, as Sam suggested, (which would be my solution if money is no object), would require moving the soil pipe and changing its connection to the sewer. So the position of the existing soil pipe is important. Is it on the inside or outside of the house? Outside would be best! Where does it connect to the sewer pipe? Is there a manhole near to the existing soil pipe? What type of floor joists have been used and their sizes? Which direction do the joists go? If you want to move the whole en-suite, then the joists would ideally need to run across from the garden room wall, in line with the label Bedroom One, so that the shower and basin waste pipes can go under the floor between the joists. You could put the shower on a plinth and box off the waste, but it is not ideal, it makes the space look cramped with lots of boxing running along the floor/ wall. Then you need to know what space is like in the area directly above where the en-suite will be positioned for electrical installation, air extraction, lighting etc. a flat roof or eaves junctions are is far more difficult to work with. Putting the en suite on the wall backing the stairs allows you to put the bed facing the front of the house or on the wall where the en-suite is now. Hope this is not too confusing, but anything can be achieved if you have the money! Best wishes vernon...See MoreHelp! Need some advice for my bedroom in a flat-share
Comments (11)Hear are some thoughts- I see there are cases on the wardrobe. make use of them for storage- put items such as linen, extra pillows and off season clothes in them, or anything else that needs storing! A thought could be to place some stick on hooks onto the side of the wardrobe to take towels, and seasonal jackets, to keep items being thrown over desk chair or draws. If you can find them in black then the hooks won't look so temporary and will tie into the suggestions below. A perfect place for a framed map would be over the bed, either a single large one or multiple smaller frames. Frames could be wood or a simple black frame. You can use stick on hooks these days to avoid wall damage. Taller bedside lamps, i know there are the sconces but they seem a bit high to be useful as bedsides. You could go with a dark anglepoise style - a little industrial to tie in with the metal beam. Bedding - invest in a more appropriate size doona. If the bed is a double, you could go queen or even king size for the doona to drape well down the sides and properly cover the bed. If nothing else this will shift the feeling from a student room! Doona cover - a simple one colour but textured cover would keep the scheme simple - cotton is the flavor of the moment. A dark charcoal, darker silver gray? My male other half can never see the point of additional pillows but I'm sorry, a couple of dress pillows does help to fill out a bed, even though they are moved for sleeping! And a bedhead. You can buy a simple one without buying a full bed frame. It looks like you have additional space on one side - the left as you face the bed head wall. If possible i would see if the chest of draws fit in this space to free up the other side from clutter. If it doesn't fit it might worth considering a taller, narrower set - if so, look for the same wood color and style. Alternatively the desk might work in that position, and the drawers could move to the desk location. Actually, the more I think on it , the desk there would keep the desk area from feeling tucked into the corner. Keep the drawer top clear of things- a leather box on top can be the go to place for things like phone, wallet, watch etc. And keep tidy!...See MoreIsla Cherry
