help with living / dining room layout open plan stairs
Comments (26)Congrats on making so much of a small space - this really is a beautiful room! I think the first layout or the very last layout (with the sofa against the stairs) works best and makes the most of the space without making it tricky to get back and forth like you said. Have a read of our 'Smoky Neutrals' must-have trend blog, if you have a moment - we think it will be right up your street! http://www.pagazzi.com/blog/pagazzi-must-have-interior-trend-smoky-neutrals...See MoreUrgent colour advice: open plan living room-kitchen required, please!
Comments (3)It's really hard to have an opinion on a screen............uinfortunately, colours just look different to people as the colours on their screens differ from one another.......does that make sense. I can tell you however, having used Dusted Moss 2 & 3 on many occasions, that it is a lot more green than it looks on your chart above, which looks grey. It has grey tones, but as the name suggests it is a green. Dulux is for sure, lovely paint,. The colour charts however, aren't so accurate and the paint mixing compared to the colour cards is also not that accurate. I always suggest to people to go get colour cards and testers and paint at least an A4 piece of paper with 2 or 3 coats. Move the paper around as the paint changes with the light in differing positions. Probably not what you want to hear, but you can't choose paint from a computer screen and hope for any accuracy at all. I now prefer Valspar ( B&Q ), used to be Crown. The colour matching is phenomenal. The accuracy to the cards is spot on, and the paint is good. I used to be a Dulux everything fan................but since discovering Valspar I have been converted....See Morelayout help new open plan . kitchen in middle of house
Comments (8)One of the plans above relies on removing the kitchen access to the utility so the solution is to make a wc in your laundry room. You could make your kitchen bigger by putting the toilet under the stairs and having a laundry cupboard. If the kitchen was a little larger there would be room to put a table on the end of the island. This could be extendable and could spread into the tv area for high days and holidays....See MoreDesign ideas of open plan living
Comments (6)I understand what you're saying about the entrance. From the floor plan it seems that the entrance might appear dark and narrow, I can't tell without photos. But if it is, you can achieve something light and bright with good paint, lighting, and mirrors. As for the open plan living, at a glance it seems the easiest option is to open up the back of the house, the kitchen and living room, to make a big kitchen diner. The two smaller rooms at the front could be kept as an office and a cosy living room. However, since you haven't moved in yet, the best possible advice would be to wait. Live in the space for a few months or a year before you make any major decisions. This can help you avoid costly mistakes....See MoreMichele Harrison
