Any suggestions for walk-in closet ideas???

Just in the beginning stages of building our home and am wondering what the best lay-out for the master walk-in closet would be, the area is 10" X 6"

Actually, my husband and I are building as well, and we decided to to purchase built in storage organizers from IKEA. Check them out they have so many designs. Good luck with your new home!

If you post a sketch of your closet indicating door location and dimensions, and tell me what you like in it, i.e do you need drawers, shelving, more space for shorter or longer garments, etc.

Oh wow, impressive space you have there! It's huge! And thank you - I love my house too :)) Plus I agree with you on the dining room - only good for dusting :)) Regarding wood vs carpet: we chose Engineered Character Oak in brushed oil - mainly because, having to completely renovate the house, we decided to go for underfloor heating top to bottom; and engineered wood is apparently the best type of wood to use with it. Therefore, carpeting was out for us however, even with central heating, we would've probably gone for wooden flooring and a lush rug. But that is a personal preference; as with the en-suites, I have rather strong opinions against carpet, so I don't think I'm the best person to advise you in this respect. (hmmm, now I'm starting to get what hubby means about me being high maintenance...) Sorry I couldn't help more, I'll try to do better in the future :))

Hello Leesh, It sounds like you rather like the idea of an en-suite and so I would perhaps suggest you go with it, rather than do one thing and then re-do it later. You mention the house has one single loo.. So would this mean presumably that you would also then situate a loo downstairs? If so perhaps you might consider turning the loo into a small wet room style shower room.. A wall hung loo and small sink would give you enough room for a small shower room fully tanked of course as they are lovely. If there is a bathroom with bath for example elsewhere on the upper levels then it could be one way of dealing with this smaller space.. Alternatively you may prefer to have a walk in closet.. Mind you.. If the bedroom is large enough you may be able to incorporate a walk in closet in the room itself.. I'm elaborating on your initial dilemma, but it may help you to decide just what you need and where exactly.. : ))

Hi ! I think if you wanted the study to double up as a guest suite, or if you are using it as a treatment room for clients - or a dedicated work space... Something along these lines might work well.... I've made the downstairs shower room bigger and more accessible from lounge as requested. Also made the showers larger, as the small ones can be a bit tight to use. I've also adjusted your kitchen layout a bit - just because the beam was making the previous layout unbalanced - this way you are centralising to the beam ( ie the bit you can't change ) and making the kitchen feel more balanced and getting more light in too. The utility area is accessed by triple sliding doors within the kitchen, that stack back to the left ... I thought it might be nice to add an internal link to the dining from the kitchen space - to save negation of the two doors when serving and clearing up from dinner. I hope you like it ! Hi Natalie, I'm not sure if this is helpful or not (?!?) but we recently knocked three rooms together and ended up with a very similar shape room with doors or entrances on every wall, meaning the conventional kitchen shapes weren't an option. I've tried to show you what we did in your floor plan just to give you a completely different idea... We've got the red square as full height units with an integrated fridge, an integrated freezer and a double larder in the middle. We put our island smack bang in the middle of the room (green box) with a double oven and induction hob on top and stools down the other side for people to sit at. Then finally we put our sink run in the other wall where the blue box is that also has our integrated dishwasher. Finally we took a very long thin utility room and split it into two so the first part of the kitchen is a walk in / out pantry (yellow box) that then leads through to a utility / laundry / dog room and the back door. The purple box was just an idea of a small sofa that people could relax on if you're all in the kitchen and entertaining a few more people as you've got a bit of space. Like I said, I'm not sure this exact layout would work with your space and dimensions but it's a similar type of shape so I thought it might help with a few ideas. (In the interests of being honest I should also mention that none of it was my idea and we totally 'cheated' and employed an amazing concept planner from on here (Gina from Create Perfect) Here's a couple of quick pics to help you visualise what I'm on about :) Its clearly not finished yet but should give you a bit if an idea.
