Need window coverings that let in light but block the view

We more or less live in the lanai of our newly purchased Florida winter home. The view is lovely facing forward but our neighbours have their garbage cans etc to one side of the lanai. What would let in maximum light but block this view?

Bamboo roller blinds are an inexpensive fix. They can be cut to fit and have a decorative look.

Working with the existing you will not want to infill the whole courtyard otherwise you'll have vast areas with no natural light and the footprint is in any event plenty large enough for a good sized house. I'd look at glazed corridors down each side connecting front to rear, whilst also giving access to rooms down each side. The likelihood however is that the construction of the stable is very basic and the cost to convert this would be more than building a simple timber framed house, even if following the original form. Assuming Planning allows for this then I'd look into this.

There are quite a few roller blind companies online now that have a large range of textured fabrics with free sample service. Even some lovely ones in Dunelm! I would go for roller. I’ve done that in our bedroom as the windows are high and in a recess so can’t have curtains and want to let as much light in during the day as possible.

Which ever style of blind or curtains on the outside of the recess will allow light bleed at the edges. It’s difficult to see how deep the recess is, would there be sufficient space for a 25mm Duette black out blind to sit in front of the existing blind? The fabric goes right to the edge of the cassette making the tightest fit possible for any blind style. Luxaflex have an operating system called Literise which would work well. If there is insufficient space for a secondary blind, you could replace the existing with a ‘day and night‘ Duette, it would be a pity to waste your existing blind though.
