Our new kitchen
Comments (22)I think that is a lot better. YAY! You'll get good flow from the utility straight into the kitchen with your shopping bags, coats, etc. and it looks like there'll be enough space in the "extended hall" to use it constructively. I do have a couple more questions/suggestions: - The doorway from the utility with the fridge next to it - if the fridge door is open, you won't be able to get through. Also, because the area next to the fridge is all wall cabinets, you might have the "where do I dump things?" issue. I would put another counter on the left wall between the two banks of cupboards. It'll probably only be two or three cabinets and counter, but I think it'll be handy. OR you could put the FF there. - I'd centre the hob on the island, but I think that is a good spot for it. - The other thing is something One Plan raised - walk in pantry? You could have part of the utility dedicated to this, or do you think you'll have enough food storage with the wall cupboard near the ovens (I assume this will be a pull out number as these are really handy to be able to see everything....See MoreOur Kitchen, Living and Dining Extension
Comments (19)No, I don't think it's easy! I spent hours trying to plan my friends kitchen with a long list of requirements and failed miserably! I'm not trying to sell one plan but look at Karen's profile or maybe visit an independent. Given your overall cost it's well worth paying to get your dream kitchen that also functions perfectly. If that isn't in budget, I would spend a lot of time looking at kitchen layouts and then researching the size of units, appliances, doors etc (allowing for bending over and what type of storage you need personally etc) and try to come up with a plan. Maybe then post on here for feedback. Would just bear in mind though that planners will have a lot more info at their fingertips that you may not have thought of that could prove invaluable. Sorry I do sound like I'm trying to sell it to you!...See MoreRemodel of downstairs space - advice needed!
Comments (12)Have attached your modified plan. I took down the wall between the kitchen and the study / playroom to give you a big Kitchen / diner. Reclaimed some of the lounge for a smaller playroom. You don't need a vast second lounge as you already have a sitting room. It made the Kitchen / Diner a much more useable space. ( All subject to load bearing walls / planning etc ) You may want to move the current door to the kitchen from the middle to one end, to give yourself the best chance of a good run of kitchen units!...See MoreUpdate/remodel kitchen on a budget
Comments (9)I think the layout needs improving anyway. The stove is very close to the corner, so I'd definitely want that moved more towards the right. Which means you'd have to have a narrow cabinet to the right of the stove. If it was my kitchen and wanted to do it on a budget, I'd check out Ikea or DIY kitchens. I'd probably go for tall cabinets along the wall across from the window. In those tall cabinets an integrated fridge freezer, microwave/oven and loads of storage. You could then lose the upper cabinets. I'd also want corner cabinets with clever pull out storage and drawers wherever possible. If you really, really, really want a breakfast bar, you could then have stools instead of a cabinet under the countertop, where the microwave and freezer/fridge (?) are now....See Morerichmondmel
