What furniture/colours to go with this bed?

My partners parents have bought us a bed which is very similar to the one pictures? What sort of bedroom furniture/colours would you put with this.

The room is plain at the moment so the world is our oyster however our budget is not!

I would have everything in greys and whites with some splashes of bright yellow, eg light fitting, cushions etc. Lots of amazing canary yellow stuff around at the moment.

Maybe go for the scandi minimalist look focusing on whites, greys, and light bleached wood. Bonus with scandi minimal is that you don't need to spend much on accessories! There are some ideas on this website for Scandinavian interiors.

I bought this bed last week for our guest room. It has a Turkish style contemporary rug in rust, sage green, navy and a golden yellow. I used silver grey sheets a sage bedspread and deep grey accent pillows. The other furniture is upholstered chair of golden yellow and grey and cherry wood night stand. You can use just about anything you since the bed is a neutral.

yes, bown nightstand will be ideal - maybe some rustic shade of mexican pine? If your floor if light brown, and a rug is cream, go for darker / medium brown to create a nice accent.

Hi Suzie, could you perhaps do something a bit out of the box and choose something that is a splash of colour? Like a found object? Chinese ceramic stools? you can also go to vintage fairs etc. Or some companies source and stock interesting pieces. This is one : http://www.retrouvius.com/stock/storage I think more grey would be dull, more black would indeed make the room feel too small. I quite like the idea of timber for your chest of drawers etc. Difficult to visualise the space thought! Colour choice is pretty personal. I am partial to blues and purples.. but that is just me! Hi Adina, Looks great so far. You're right - it needs a couple of extra pieces, but it's nearly there. It's going to be a lovely room to relax in! I think some more geometric, angular styles would work well for the coffee table. And you could mix it up with some softer, curved details - like the Bica coffee table from WEWOOD, which has an inbuilt tray that can be removed and used to bring coffees over to the seating area. I'd also recommend adding some plants to your room - the contrast between man made and organic structures is beautiful. You can mix mauves, heathers & greys with this type of bed in a myriad of styles, modern, romantic etc... If you do not want to go down the industrial route. Both photos below are from my room. Main wall opposite my bed is in dark grey, the bed wall is wall papered with a pale mauve with silver embellishment, the two other walls in the room (no photo) are in a beautiful deep heather colour, I have a huge French mirror to balance out the window wall as windows are not centred

I would paint the walls a fair grey colour then place colour everywhere else possible, bedding, rugs, paintings.

Seeing as you're bed is upholstered in quite a dark colour and the furniture you are planning to get from Ikea is quite dark too, it would definitely make sense to choose a lighter colour for the walls, whether it be a wallpaper or paint. A light grey would work wonderfully. Raspeberry and grey is a great colour combination. You may consider having just one feature wall painted in a raspberry colour? Or it may be best to just use the bright raspberry colour in accents across the bedroom, such as cushions and a throw for the bed and perhaps the odd painted picture frame or a bright print. Have attached a few examples of how grey and raspberry can look great together!

I am loving this thread as I have pretty much the same issue. We've selected our grey upholstered bed, so now I need a swatch to scout around curtain, paint and carpet shops. Keeping in mind that we have a huge bay window (let's in light 24hours a day!), fitted mirror wardrobes along the long wall opposite the bed wall, and a dado rail at about 3 feet from the skirting...

Curtains - we need something that can look both ethereal and keep the pesky light out... Was thinking pale grey, pale duck egg, or a slightly pink grey...

Paint - light grey with pink undertones? Should it be darker below the dado? Should I go dark everywhere? What colour dado / skirting? Am not averse to dark grey skirting....

Carpet - well, something to go with the above. Was thinking a mid-grey, between the dark bed and what might be a lighter wall.

Sorry to hijack thread, but it's the same dilemma!

Ps. I don't know how I missed those raspberry examples - love! Can I do dark walls with mirrored wardrobes?

This looks super comfy and similar in style to both our Billow bed, Chrome bed and Smoke bed! We've styled the first with weathered oak furniture to keep the classic yet laid-back look, or a more contemporary look for the styling of our Chrome with flashes of metal alongside soft and comfy touches. Our third and favourite option is a more retro look. I hope this helps!

Hello Emma,

I like the sofa image Button and Sprung posted.. I think you want to keep to really elegant and sleek styling whilst layering and adding textures.. If the room is quite big... what about having a closet behind a large walled headboard.. For colours deep navy or basalt from Little Greene would be nice.. Some images for inspiration.. re the top image here -definitely not spot lighting! I'd add some lighter injections such as bed linens, crisp cushions and warm woods would be nice here..

This pic is for the closet to show you what I mean and the above is for the overall style minus the spots! Have these in the closet area so you're not in the dark.. If the room is big you could walk in from each side... If not then have a single opening.. : ))
