Hi I was just wondering if the bench top is actual timber or if it is a timber look laminate? It looks awesome if it is a laminate :-)

Wow. I think I'm definitely going to get a timber laminate benchtop now that I've seen this & know that solid timber is out of my budget. Thank you so much for sharing :-) I don't suppose you know what kind of edge that it has, is it rolled or square? My eyesight can't pick it up!

I presume this is a bathroom? I'd either for for the same floor tiles in the wet areas thus keeping the floor looking uniform, or go for a grey to match the walls. If you're mixing greys and beiges together maybe a wooden top to tie the two together? If you're going for a spacious look then keeping the colour changes to a minimum is good, therefore, white tops to match the cabinets would be great.

I would just cut the bottom tiles, it's common to have your cuts on the bottom and your full tile at the top. You could also consider an up stand instead, less tiling and cutting. You could even consider acrylic cut to size in a colour of your choice and make a feature of it, it may look nicer than a half tile. Are you planning to cut the unit down on the right? I presume it's a slightly taller than average unit, which is why the work top ended up a little higher than you want. We're tall and hate our work tops 890mn , we're stuck with our kitchen now, but in future would have higher ones. Our Utility is much higher as we have American Machines, perfect. Everyones' different!

I agree with @Daisy England regarding drainer grooves are not necessary, in fact the amount of fall is so minimal and so little water drains away you might find having the extra worktop space is more useful, there are worktop drainer boards https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/reginox-ceramic-belfast-sink-kitchen-drainer you can get instead which may be more practical. Adding drainer grooves to wooden worktops may invalidate the guarentee so check the small print, you have solid surfaces like mistral, minerva which are solid all the through, but they can/do scratch quite easily (es[ecially the black/dark colours), solid laminates worktops but these usually have a black core so if you add drainer grooves you lose the worktop pattern. If budget can stretch quartz/granite would be a preferable option and just put a tea towel down on the worktop to soak up the water.
