Room design for two small dogs

I have a large room front of house where dogs spend most their time. I have a fitted carpet and two couches in the room which the dogs sit on and like to look out the window. I don't have a cupboard to keep their things in. The room can be full of dog odours especially when they have been out a walk in the rain. They shake themselves and it goes over the cream walls. Their food dishes are on the carpet and water spills onto the carpet . I want to get rid of long curtains, the couches and the carpet but not sure how to decorate the walls or cover floor. Would still like them hi be able to look out the window . Would also want a large built in cupboard . Any suggestions?

The first thing I'd do is get a tray for the food and water bowls to go on.

Amtico or similar flooring. A couple of cotton machine washable rugs will be snuggly for the dogs- I would get bath mats because most have a rubber non slip back.

Window treatment- either a blind that can be pulled up and out of the way or curtains from the high street in a man made easy wash fabric.

Have the sofas steam cleaned a couple of times a year and scotch guarded the rest of the time meaning that you don't have to get rid.

You can put in a cupboard but it might be easier to buy a big piece of furniture such as a dresser or hamper.

I would paint the walls in a wipeable matt paint and keep a basket of towels by the door and not let them in until they have had a rub down.

Lol AMW. There's about 15cm from top of window to ceiling & the walls are cement blocks (so no recess space). The tiled 'secret' drawer compartment looks pretty cool though. I've got a cabinet being made in oak which will have to be sufficient for my daughter. The only thing I haven't decided on yet is the punter colour material to go with my java marble tile. So any pictures or links of suitable countertop/bench tops to go with the tile & oak cabinet would be grand :)

I think you're not far off the look you want but, you're right, there are a few tweaks to tie it together. Mainly paint, so only a weekend, maybe two, depending on how handy you are with a brush! I would paint the black blue, and lose the gold frame moulding in the centre of the ceiling (it brings the ceiling down, visually). Love the blue chandelier, keep it! Is that a radiator to the right of the door? If yes, I'd paint it gold to match the skirting (it would also look more Victorian). If you have the budget, you could get it replaced with a vintage style cast iron radiator? They are quite expensive though, so maybe something to save up for down the line? I'd also paint the entry door blue, with a gold frame, to tie everything in together - I think the stark white block in the wall jars with the rest of the room. As per other contributors to this thread, I agree that you need a rug, ideally a dark coloured Kilim or Turkish style rug, going by your inspiration photos. IKEA do some that are very affordable, but you could splash out on a handmade one. If you can find a battered and worn secondhand one, I think would look awesome, it would give you that lived in Victorian look? Finally, the chairs and table are cool, and the colours work for me, but the table is way to small for the space. Perversely, I think it actually makes the room look smaller? I would switch to a six seater, and turn it 90 degrees to how you have it at the moment (pointing toward the fireplace). It does look awesome, and do please keep us posted!

Normally i think islands in a small room work better if they’re in the same colour. Personally I prefer Matt and think shaker style would work. The kitchen will probably look bigger minus handles but I think shaker handleless are more expensive but might be wrong. You could have discreet handles anyway. Have you considered an induction hob? It’s sleeker and will give you more worktops space when not in use. It also looks as if you could have a deeper than normal worktop on the back run (more storage space)? i added some tiles for texture but you may hate the colour (Apologies for the bad photoshop!)

Hi Sarah! The sink is the only one on the app it let me add but yes, wouldn't need a drainer as the dish rack we use has an in-built one that drains straight into the sink anyway, haha. There would be 1m now between the back of the sink and the peninsula which is what we had in our last place between the back run and our island and it was a good space as easy to cook and move to the sink? yes there is always that awkward corner space to deal with which we have already so I guess a good corner pull out might be the best way for that. It's difficult as I liked the sleeker look with a back run and peninsular (first design) but there just wasn't enough worktop space for our appliances. So the boiler is quite high BUT it has ALOT of pipework as it is a split system that runs our flat and separate pipes to the other flats. We are cutting all that out and just having it for ours. to the left of the boiler is an old glass window and if we could move it to the left (and have a run of wall units) then we would. It's going to cost to move all the pipes though so we would probably have to do a false back panel as none of the pipes are buries in the back wall and they stand out (hence why they did the full unit to the worktop to hide them all!). At the moment the kitchen as it is, has too much floor space and no seating at all. We used to live at our peninsula and island in all our previous homes (we did have much bigger kitchens to be fair but they were houses and this is just a flat, lol) But the main bonus is that it would give me a briliant space for baking and cooking on as I have lots of allergies that appeared last year and so I have to make all my own bread and any baked goods. Seating at it (bear in mind the bi-folds will likely be open all year around and are only there for building regs to tick a box (expensive box, LOL) will feel more spacious when the two rooms are opened up. The conservatory (other side of the bifolds) will have a proper insulated and plastered roof and the flooring will run through so it will feel like one room.

How about some mellow Duck pods covered in Glastonbury "leather". The fabric is waterproof, stain resistant and dog hairs don't cling. It's very easy to clean yet looks great with a matt grained finish and comes in several colours. You can also choose from 7 shapes so effectively design your own pieces...
