Mid century radiogram/record player Upcycle

I re-conditioned the wood then painted, there is a beautiful green and pink plaid chair in the room which we based the colours on, x

I was only commissioned to do the radiogram, the client wasn't sure what she wanted hence the reason for my visit to her house. I asked her what her favourite piece of furniture/art in the room was and used the colours of her favourite chair. I haven't been back to the house since but the client advised she loved it and will take a photo of it in situ for me. She had an 'album' party as the radiogram is now her fav piece in the room so I am very pleased she now loves the piece as it was nearly thrown out!!

Thanks for all the suggestions. We're definitely looking at a new radiator for the room. I've also moved all of the furniture in every way suggested but it definitely works in a similar way to the way we have it at present. I've attached a few photos from when I was moving the furniture around. For the meantime I've popped the Tv on a smaller unit and it's made it less obtrusive to the eye-still doesn't quite fit the space though! I've had an electrician come out to quote for putting ceiling lights in. Due to works we are planning in the rooms above the living area, it can all be tied in which is great, I'm now trying to decide whether regular pendant style or spotlights will suit the room best. With regards to using the room for another purpose, due to the configuration of the rest of the house, it is best used as a living area. I've attached the floor plan, again, suggestions welcome. Ideally, if we had three good sized bedrooms upstairs instead of 2, I would reinstate bedroom 3 as a dining room. We have the opportunity to go into the loft (many of the houses on the terrace have done so) but I feel that with it being just the two of us, we don't really need all that extra space! With the points raised about difficulties/hassle in bringing food to the dining area, we have a lovely hostess trolley that is used when we are cooking for the extended family which we have done quite a few times and works really well in reducing any awkwardness in orchestrating a dinner party.

What are the maximum dimensions of the footstool? Also what's the height of the sofa to the seat cushion? Personally I'd go for a Chesterfield on legs to keep the feeling of space in a plain fabric with a tray on top as AJ suggested

You could paint the TV unit doors and either the uprights or the shelves of the hi fi unit the same colour to help get cohesion. You have a grey sofa and the grey uprights so colour match them. Do the same with the other shelving unit. You then are creating a neutral palette on which to build other colours. Re the windows, the room is quite masculine, so either keep with that theme and go for wide slatted venetians, or soften the room up with long sweeping curtains with the fabric picking out your highlight colours. For privacy you could put film on the window, but it looks as if you have greenery outside so perhaps you don't need it..

Thanks so much. Weirdly we don’t need storage as we have a play (dumping) conservatory and a giant cupboard with built in shelves. But somewhere to put away baskets of a small amount of toys would be good, I like the idea of one half bookshelf and storage space one half a chair with a more funky wall light as a small reading nook. I have no idea whether carpenters can build a chair that flips out but can be folded back! But also love the bookshalves with the billy book case. also a lot more cost effective I imagine!

I have an old radiogram similar to that and would love to do something similar, how much would you charge to upcycle one of these?

I charged £80 + materials, I used tester size paints for this job
