Comments (8)Hello Jules - I really like your choices of wallpaper. Both greens are really soft and relaxing colours; perfect for a sitting room. I love the Cole & Son wallpaper too but I don't think it would work as a feature wall alongside the greens. In fact, I think feature walls have had their day and you would be better off to go with the green paper on all four walls. The light wooden floor will look super with the green and if you do the woodwork in white/off-white then it will look clean & crisp. You mentioned that you were finding the room a little echo-y. You'll probably find that it'll be less noticeable when you have the dining furniture in the room and the curtains hung. If it still feels a little echo-y then you might consider putting down a large rug to absorb some of the sound. It also has the added effect of making the room look cosier. I hope this is of some help. Best wishes, Jessica Jessica Buckley Interiors...See MoreBefore & After - East Lothian Family Living Room
Comments (0)The brief was to create a cosy and comfortable family sitting room in a room which is situated close to the kitchen but that, up until that point, had been rather redundant. They wanted the whole family (a couple with three children) to be able to sit comfortably in there together and for it to be appealing, cosy and practical in decor. The lighting was very poor with an ugly overhead pendant and a couple of wall lights. We removed the pendant, putting decorative wall lights on either side of the TV, shelf mounted lights on the shelving units and floor sockets under the sofa so lamps could sit on tables at either end of it wired into a 5 amp circuit that switched at the door. I also added a couple of picture lights. BEFORE: AFTER: A large TV was important to them and the only place to put it was above the fireplace. The existing surround was too high so the fireplace was replaced with a slightly lower and more simple limestone design. A large bespoke shelving unit was designed and built for the wall opposite the fireplace. This was painted so the interior was the colour of the walls and the exterior the colour of the rest of the woodwork in the room which looks very effective. There had been a radiator on this wall but this was removed and two low cast iron radiators were placed within the window reveal. They are all delighted with the new room and use it every day....See MoreBefore & After: Kitchen & Living Room Renovation in Notting Hill
Comments (13)Great use of colour to make a statement but I would use it as an accessory colour away from the kitchen. having said that, it is interesting to read that the kitchen was hand painted to match the wall colour and not the other way round! it's all about personal taste so if owners love it then that's all that matters. Bravo for use of the bar-like cabinet for glasses, this gives the feel of a bar and it is very trendy. We're seeing more of this around homes. The worktop is FANTASTIC....See MoreAmin Mneina
