I come up with all the ideas, but I trust his judgement. A lot of the time he won't have an opinion, but if he doesn't like it, then it usually confirms for me that I'm not getting it quite right. I have a wider taste, but sometimes we need to work together to get our joint decorating taste just right.

I love making bread. Like someone else commented, it is very therapeutic. I have a bread machine which I use constantly. I also do some breads by hand. I make white bread for my other half, spelt loaves or wholemeal for me using a variety of seeds or honey, molasses, bran, oats etc. I also make bread rolls, croissant, baguette, tortilla (which takes seconds by hand and is then used to make wraps, enchiladas or quesadillas). I also make Pide (Turkish bread), roti chani(paratha), flatbread, roti, puri, bhatura, chapatti, Irish soda bread, dried fruit soda, boxy (an Irish potato bread usually eaten at Halloween), St Vincent bakes, Scotch pancakes, crepes, scones, pizza base, ciabatta and focaccia. I like Matthews Cotswold flour which I get in Aldi when they have it or on Amazon. I bought from Shipton Mill during lockdown as I had very little white and wholemeal flour left. They were excellent, reasonably priced as well. I had been struggling to find flour and Amazon had doubled the price of the Matthews ones and I couldn't get through to Matthews directly. I buy 12-16 kg at a time usually of the flours I use the most. I currently have about 10 different types of flours I am using. We never buy bread any more and my other half finds homemade bread more filling so he eats less and is full quicker. Even the dog comes running when I slice a new loaf. He only gets a few crumbs but he loves it. I would love to go on a bread making or even a pastry course as I want to learn more. One bread I haven't mastered yet is naan bread. I am wondering about buying a pizza oven as I think a standard oven can't do it is well. Or maybe I just haven't found the right recipe yet.

Totally agree with Stebonheath. Our parents and grandparents had lots of things in their rooms; a hangover from the Victorian age. Today we demand brighter lighter interiors and large dark furniture and porcelein ladies are totally out of fashion. Whilst I am not a fan of totally open plan layouts, it does make rooms appear much larger than they are. My parents house faced a park with mature trees and we had lace curtains totally covering the windows then heavy lined velvet curtain on top, to be closed after dinner. My windows only have the light curtains closed when dark. It makes a huge difference.

I won a bike in a competition just before Christmas ,but due to a knee problem I'm unable to ride this beautiful prize . I knocked down my shed last summer due to its age so now have nowhere to store my bike . It's in the hall , has to be negotiated around , I'm reluctant to sell it as I want to ride it !! I live in a terrace so back access is complicated and due to the knee problem I can't haul it up the front steps !! New house needed .... for me and my bikey !

Unfortunately, MRSA is all over, not just lurking in hospitals anymore. My nephew contracted it when he was about 18 months old. The doctors had strict guidelines to follow for prevention of further outbreaks for both him, and the entire family. My sister was told that everyone, not just families that are dealing with MRSA, should wash towels after every use with bleach as a means to kill any of the germs. bTW, my sister has always kept a spotless home, so it wasn't like this is a home with full of excessive germs.

Me of course! Why else would I be a fan of Houzz! No, my hubby just says I spend longer in the house as I am a full time mum so why shouldn't I have it how I want it. Aaaaahhhh isn't he nice!

Luckily, we're both very close with our tastes and prefer a traditional style to our decor and furniture. There have been a few things that my wife has suggested that I really don't like, such as a black and white checkerboard tiles in the hall or certain material choices for soft furnishing - I usually get my way on the detail though, mainly because I research the options better.

I usually pick and do all the painting and picking of furniture etc I listen to his suggestions and then he comes to his senses AT LAST!!!!!

We both have very similar style, he can suggest things that I had never thought of and vice versa.

The results pretty clearly state that the majority think highly of their own style, rather than their partner's... myself included....

Hm. We sort of both have zero taste. He; because he is an extreme minimalist: if you don't like anything can you be said to have a taste for anything? And I; because I have a serious penchant for kitsch. I'd say once we compromise between us, we probably count as having excellent taste, lol.

I'm obsessed with interior design whilst my partner has no interest in it, though everything would be red if he had his way ( I am a pink lover). I have carte blanche to indulge in my design passion (he is in charge of all household gadgets). However, when we first moved into our current flat he started making the most random decorating suggestion ( of the toilet seat cover/carpet in the bathroom kind

Argh! We do have quite different tastes but i love to find the perfect match between his darker side (leather, wood...) and my cravings for colourfull and shiny metal materials (chrome, glas...). I would say the mixture of both makes our home interesting and special!
But in the end, it's all a matter of time and money!

tricky...we both have good taste.. i just like funky and radical and she likes refined and calm... we just spent weeks trying to find new cushions for our sofa on Etsy... funky and bright won the day !
