Advice please.........What can I install instead of the secondary window glazing next to the shower? The glass panel was installed inside the double glazed window, just to prevent water splashing onto the window sills, preventing water mark & lime scale buildup. But it is a bit ugly. What can I replace it with as I'm about to renovate the bathroom. Not keen on shower curtain.

What kind of glass screen that can be installed to replace the current panel?

Hello Diana,

Well if you are going to renovate the bathroom.. Could you possibly look at re-situating the shower so it is not next to the window.. Thus you could remove the secondary glazing altogether and in addition you may be able to create a much sleeker shower or even a wet room style arrangement... The sleekest screens are those that are plain glass sheet. Have a look at these for some inspiration.. Also if you want really clever style and guide to know what to spend and where to scale back... think of the accessories! The shiny bits!! : ))

AJ Interior, thank you for your advice. I love your bathroom images, clean and sleek. I have thought about repositioning the shower/bathtub away from the window. But it is not possible because of the door opening. I am tempted to get a shower screen and have it cut and then fixed and incorporate it onto the new tiling, as though it is part of the bath screen. Would that work?

Hi there! You can put the dining table next to the kitchen door, which would help you organise the space and fit for purpose. I personally prefer a round table as that gives you a little more space. For the living room the armchair must be small, we do not want the space to appear narrower. You can enclose the space with an ottoman, to have a complete living room. I recommend that you put the sofa facing the kitchen door, that way you have an integrated space. Here's a little sketch to illustrate what I mean. Lighter garage door, and something to make the front door/porch say - 'THIS WAY' 'WELCOME' rather than the dark corner it is now. If that porch/conservatory was white or light somehow it would help alot. Possibly even loose/heavily prune some of the foliage/tree at the front to brighten up the driveway etc. I bet if you cut that green bush to the ground one year it would slowly come back anyway and you could then size it to taste? If you're doing windows -then georgian bars in the glass don't to anything for me - but its your house - if you like them go for it :)

Normally i think islands in a small room work better if they’re in the same colour. Personally I prefer Matt and think shaker style would work. The kitchen will probably look bigger minus handles but I think shaker handleless are more expensive but might be wrong. You could have discreet handles anyway. Have you considered an induction hob? It’s sleeker and will give you more worktops space when not in use. It also looks as if you could have a deeper than normal worktop on the back run (more storage space)? i added some tiles for texture but you may hate the colour (Apologies for the bad photoshop!)

Hello Diana,

Thank you, glad you liked the ideas. I think you could make something work like you're suggesting. I had one other idea. If it's just the door that poses a problem with re situation then, what about either a bifold door or a sliding door. That way you don't have to allow for the door width opening. :))

I appreciate the dilemma is going to be a compromise in some way. I wonder whether you might consider one of our new cast aluminium window sills? Hi Mirror & Light Shutters

The window sills is going to be tiled and grouted with epoxy, the tiles will slightly till gently to allow the water drain to the bath, thus no problem with water splash. Thank you.
