You could paint the walls - either go for a feature wall with something bold like a teal or olive green, or paint all the walls something paler like duck egg or apple green for example. Or you could add pattern and colour with wallpaper. Pull a palette together of 3 colours to add visual interest. Work on a 60%, 30% and 10% rule for the different colours. For example: 60% neutral, 30% would be accent colour 1 (so paint a wall or bring in wallpaper or add a big rug, some cushions and art), 10% is accent colour 2 which could be a few cushions and decorative bits....See MoreHelp with a TINY loft bedroom
Comments (4)Hi. You would need to be very supple for this (!) but you could bring the bed forward and add a clothes rail behind. Use a curtain to disguise most of the storage. Layer the bed with cushions and throws so it becomes the focal point. Agree with headers re storage bed, look for one that front opens or has front drawers and store items in there that you don't need frequently. I'd use the cupboard for bags and shoes so as to try and keep the rest of the room as clutter free as possible. Can you paint the room? A cooler colour may make it feel very marginally bigger as the cream/beige looks a little warm. I'd keep the chest of drawers in the same as the ŵall colour so they blend in and add colour for cushions etc. Mirrors will make a room feel bigger but im not sure where they would fix. Perhaps go for a wider cabinet to the left of the door and add a free standing mirror on top? Or alternatively look at mirrored caninet/s...See MoreI think I've given up - Living Room v Man
Comments (27)We may not share artistic values but we do share one good thing... love and our life together - he's simply your typical man who loves to lounge around even when covered in dirt! We may have completely different ideas for our home but he is a good egg :) Anyway I do believe we have found common ground... surprisingly he really likes my idea of using grey with bright colours. We have agreed that as long as I stop forcing him to endure flamingos or similar, he will put up with me buying vintage and completely unnecessary furniture. He's said I can do whatever I want with those awful armchairs... WIN! I think we are going with man friendly greys meets pops of colour/vintage. It's pay day next week and I simply can't wait any longer!! Having said that... some ideas for what style of vintage and arrangements will be wonderful! Here is the photo from my kitchen door - anything attached to the walls were already there from the previous residents and will be removed... such as the mirror which isn't in line with that hideous folding table and the strange religious wall in the corner.... plus the half finished wallpaper on the chimney breast lol. x...See MoreAny ideas on brightening up a depressing side of the house.
Comments (7)I think it is all that stuff that is collecting there that lets it down. How about a shed to store it all away? To make room for it install a single gate on the house side and a side fence panel up to the boundary fence or a cheaper option would be to keep the existing double gate but make it so only one side opens. Then construct a long shallow shed along the fence for all of that stuff including the dustbins. A shallow compartmentalised shed with a number of doors means everything is easily to hand. Make a feature of the shed. If upper windows look down on it give it a green roof or grow a climber over it. Or face it in narrow contemporary slats. Perhaps soften the remainder of the boundary fence by removing the concrete below the fence and planting climbers. To ensure the plants thrive first know the aspect and soil condition. Ivy will grow just about anywhere and comes in different leaf shapes, sizes and shades of green. Some are more vigorous than others so check before you buy....See MoreCaldicot Kitchen & Bathroom Centre
