Need help in deciding colour for two designer armchairs I will buy.

Need assistance for colour scheme in living room: I have a light grey marble floor, intend buying a white leather sofa and armchair ,and need to know in what colour the two designer chairs I plan on purchasing would look most elegant e.g. pink, blue, green, navy?

Hello,

It would be useful to see a picture of your room. What other colours you have? Is it all neutrals, or only the floor is grey? All those colours you have listed would work with white and light grey, also which shades were you thinking of? Your favourite interior design style?

I think I would consider blue or olive green.

Thank you for your input! I can't supply a photo since the apartment isn't finished yet!! I want to make a statement with the two armchairs and that is why I queried which of the colours I mentioned would be best. I presently have two pink sofas which are a great hit but old fashioned and therefore I won't take them with me to the apartment! I thought of blue (jeans colour) or navy myself but am not sure that blue is smart enough for a living room? As to the style, I like it to be modern and minimalistic. By the way, I am a fan of Tricia Guilde of Designers Guild in London. I adore flowers and her colour sense is amazing!! Best wishes and thanks again! Eve

I really think you should consider timber. All WWA members have their windows tested against air and water leakage, so there won't be any problems there. They come factory-finished in any RAL colour and can be repainted (outside or inside) whenever you want. And the frames will last twice as long as plastic. I would replicate its original windows, which are beautiful. It's a handsome house - keep its value by keeping its authentic character.

Hi, I think your scheme is going to work very well. I tried to imagine the dining room table gone and replaced with something a little more Scandinavian, with maybe mustard colour seats, Grey or White. I think the Armchair will look good in Mustard to bring together the other end of the room with your Swivel chair. The coffee table will need to go as it's just to modular to fit in with the theme. However, the pale wood of a scandinavian coffee table is going to sit very well on your rug and will pick up on the floor colouring, blending it all together. Add some funky cushions to the sofa, job done.

Thank you very much Rebecca, Jonathan, AS and Bath Bespoke for your comments, v kind of you. I have attached a picture with the window design I am now actively considering for the non bay windows. I thought this may be a good option since it will maximise the views from the inside. I don't know what the name of this type of window is but it is a solid pane with two fanlights above. Do you think this could be a solution? I am hoping it will blend in with the bays? As for the rendering, I am still undecided whether this will look ok with this style of chalet bungalow, at times I think the brickwork looks good and other times I wonder if it is dated! I think I may have to play it safe with white windows.....

Hello Sophia, what a fabulous space to work with! I would put a large mirror or feature artwork above the fireplace and then in the alcove where the current owners have got the TV I would put in fitted units to house the TV. The layout as it is looks to work well. Is this the 'best' living room or is this more of a casual seating/snug area? If it is more of snug area then I would consider putting in a large corner sofa in the middle of the room as the space seems to lend itself to this. In answer to your questions about the double doors and curtains... there does not look to be much room between the doors and the windows so it would be difficult to hang curtains just for the doors without them overlapping the windows. Therefore, you could potentially put in a curtain rail the full width of that wall at the tallest point under the coving and hang curtains to cover the two windows and the double doors and then finish it with a pelmet at the top. Hi Eve. It's probably a bit subjective as to what is more elegant! I find darker colours are more elegant so charcoal and more of an inky blue etc. brighter colours are more striking though. You could go for an inky blue and add burnt orange or maybe pea green ( mushy pea variety!) cushions as a suggestion

If plain then I would go dark blue/ petrol or grey.... a soft, matt velvet (designers guild are the best) or a wool or linen blend.... think about trims or perhaps piping in a contrast (really depends on the style of chair).... you could perhaps do one plain and one in an interesting botanical fabric... so one is a statement piece if there is nothing to compete with it in the room - good luck!
