Mixing French & bifold doors?
Comments (7)Thanks to all of you for your advice. I think we're going to forget the bifold option. We currently have a step down into the garden from inside & I think bifolds look better when they open up onto an outdoor area that is level with inside tho that is just my opinion! Now considering the option of sliding doors. I'd like them to open from the middle with two panes sliding back (like supermarket doors but without the auto opening! ) can anyone recommend a supplier? I actually think French doors would suit our bungalow more but don't like that you only get a limited opening area because of the size of the actual doors....See MoreFrench Door - Have you secured your's ?
Comments (9)You need to look at everything, not just locks. Locks are important obviously so make sure you have Sold Secure diamond or similar antisnap cylinders + BS multi point locking. Decent frames also, wood still good to use, looks a lot better imo. Also need decent strong hinges x 3 per leaf and dog bolts recessed into the frames top and bottom on hinge sides to stop door leaves being lifted out if hinges cut thro. Laminated security glass also recommended as this will be very hard to break through as the laminate holds the glass together for longer. Suggest you also read up on the Secured by Design website and check your insurance requirements. Good luck....See MoreFrench Windows or patio doors?
Comments (6)The different hinges can assist in having the doors sitting against the wall so that they don't impeded on the patio area. However, you still need all the room in front of the doors to open them initially, and you wouldn't want to have to move furniture every time you open them. The amount of room you have directly in front of the doors is still an issue, regardless of whether or not you can have them sitting against the wall to walk past them....See Moresliding/bifold or french doors
Comments (12)Hi, The grey doors on the end, are they bifolds? I think if you match the style of these then it will look great. I don't mind mixing modern with traditional and actually it may look better to match the grey rather than leaving those end doors as the odd ones out. Do what suits your interior style....See Moredelamitri
