Unused fireplace in Kids bedroom - Ideas pls
Comments (25)Not sure what it's actually like inside, but I had an ugly fireplace to deal with in one of my houses in England, and since removing it wasn't in the budget at the time, I found a piece of artwork I liked that fit into the opening framed and stuck that in it, then put a plant on the hearth just in front and to one side of the artwork to give it a little bit of life/color/dimension. I do like the whiteboard idea, but you can also do colored chalkboard paint, if you want to add something other than black. Maybe pick out a color from the tiles and fit the new board a little better so it's nicely framed by the existing tile surround? (You do need to keep it a fairly dark color so the chalk shows, but it looks like there's a nice dark blue/green you could use based on the tiles? My laptop's color display is in 'night' mode so I can't tell exactly what shade the tiles are atm. They look sort of teal-ish to me. :) )...See MoreHelp transform my living room
Comments (19)Hi. It's a great room just needs pattern, art and a big coffee table. I'd keep the beams. The fireplace doesn't match the rest of the wood so would paint it. The skirting boards are making the room seem shorter but if you paint them you'd need to do the adjoining space. I'd go for a round or sunburst mirror just to soften the lines against the beams. In terms of layout I'd keep it as it until/ if you get new sofas as the tv is encroaching on the curtains. Maybe a floor lamp in the corner by the 3 seater. Definitely a big coffee table/footstool and I'd consider a rug too. I agree with mrsmcee re colour and patterns from your ideabooks. I'd also get a more feminine ceiling light and add a plant or 2....See Morechoosing a hearth for my living room fireplace
Comments (16)hi all, as promised (or threatened ?!) here are the photos of my new fireplace. I am still not convinced that the wallpaper on the chimney breast is right and we are thinking of just repainting the whole area white/offwhite. (The carpet and curtains are new). the red in the previous photo above is what was on the wall pre-installation and i was hoping to replicate that, but could not find a plain red paper anywhere! so have gone with red curtains instead. any advice regarding replacing the stripy paper welcome !! thankyou...See MoreLiving room transformation
Comments (15)Hi Apollo, we believe it's important for professionals in the residential market to review each other's work - 'every day's a school day'. Did your customer have any intelligent/control for the lighting? We love setting lighting scenes that reflect the customer's lifestyles and often encourage them to consider the garden areas to be included. A well lit garden during the darker winter months has a wonderful impact on the interiors as well. Do let us know if you'd ever like some support for your design and operations; it looks like we also do projects in the same areas as you :)...See Moresusanalanandwrigley
