Help with lounge please. Colours, lighting, sofas and anything else.
Comments (4)Hi Marina. I keep looking at the pics and can't work it out, do you have 2 or 3 sofas?! I think you could possibly get away with fuschia but the lamps will stand out a fair bit unless you add a little for other accessories. If you want something That blends a little more you could try a blush pink, it just depends on what look you want. Alternatively you could just pick up the colours in the curtains, ie charcoal lampshades and add some green in a cushion etc. I don't think the art looks bad in the room but not completely wow either, I think it would work really well in a silver frame though imo. I think the coffee table needs accessoring and I would add a much taller vase of flowers on the dining table. Is there also another place the display cabinet could go? The sideboard looks great but the cabinet detracts from it (as a focal point, not that the cabinet isn't nice!!). What size are the table lamps you've ordered as I think you need something with a little more height. Your new additions are looking great btw...See MoreAccessorising Hague blue front room!
Comments (27)The colours you've chosen work really well together; I find the room really peaceful and relaxing but not in the least bit dull. Fantastic job. On details, I'd paint the radiator the same Hague Blue - it's not a feature and deserves to blend in, not stand out. I'd also hang bigger pictures than those you've chosen - to give a sense of balance with the drama of the colour. That means you could have larger pictures/paintings on each wall - the room can take it and it won't be dominated by art because your sofa and chairs are such a good size for the room. I'd have bigger plants, or at least one bigger plant - the one I can see is a bit small and would work well on a surface (a side table, perhaps) while a very large plant on the floor would bring the room alive. I agree that a mirror would be good. Have you tried pulling the sofa away from the wall and more into the room? Would that make it seem even more cosy?...See MoreWoad blue lounge, need help with decor
Comments (5)Hi. It looks a lovely room, all of the colours in your ideabook or shades of would work or a mint green with coral. I'd add a mustard chair (this one is nearly chartreuse). You could use a shade of purple as an accent colour for cushions etc. Add a gold/brass mirror over the fire and I'd go for glass coffee table/s so you can still see the floor beneath. I'd add a floor lamp over the sofa (I keep posting this plug in from westelm as can only find this one or one from made!) alternatively if you move the plant you could add a swing arm or arc lamp where the plant is. I would actually go for a grey patterned rug if the floor has grey tones as it won't make the room feel smaller. Again this is westelm and it has a yellow thread running through it but they have a number of grey patterned rugs. I'd go for Roman blinds on the windows. I might just actually go for shelves in the alcove to make the room feeling smaller, alternatively a hanging cabinet beneath shelves can work, will see I find I can find pictures....See MorePlease help me make my lounge a contemporary space
Comments (6)I'm at the end of renovating a whole house and if you're anything at all like me you are probably skint by now! And like you I'm running low on ideas too. Looking at your room I might be tempted to temporarily finish it off by not spending too much money and have it ready for Christmas telly lounging! Then maybe next year (or later ) when you're up for it finish off however you're inspired. So I'd put Ikea shelves above the TVs and paint all of it dark. Having said that I've got loads of books and they always make rooms look good! I'd also keep the fire for now and put book shelves low down the wall and put plenty of artwork above....See Morelydzjos
