Over-garage extension (master bedroom/ensuite) making narrow room work
Comments (22)We are doing the same. weve done our build in 2 phases so weve just conpleted the single storey rear extension and about to start building the double storey in April. Although we are making our front box room bigger by taking it out over the new attached garage to make hopefully 4 double bedrooms. the room will only be 2.38m wide and around 4.3m long with a 90cm space for a shower, toilet and sink. hoping it works and the above from man about the house gives me hope it will as i plan to do something similar with a small area at the back literally for the bed and some bedside tables then a small walk through wardrobe area and then a thin ensuite. will decide where to put stud walls once the shell and floor in built so i can determine the space needed....See MoreMe again! Master bedroom, ensuite and storage. Creative ideas please!
Comments (11)I’d compromise by ditching the bath - use that space for more clothes storage. The bath is not something that is that useful - and it prevents the use of electric sockets within a 3m radius of it - so person who sleeps the ‘bath’ side of the bed couldn’t charge their phone next to them at night. Also I’d add more storage on opposite side of room to where bath was too....See MoreIs the master bedroom too small for an En-suite
Comments (8)Thanks for all your replies - I really appreciate it. We do currently need all four bedrooms as we have 3 children. Whether it is our forever home really depends on how much we can expand. It is a semi detached 1930s property. The current owners have already extended to the side to create a fourth bedroom downstairs and have extended to the rear for a bigger kitchen. We are hoping to eventually extend on top of the current side extension - I'm guessing if we did that we could make bedroom four bigger and build in to it to create the en-suite? Here is the whole floor plan...See MoreSingle alcove bedroom, need more built in storage. Which option?
Comments (6)Excellent idea there by @Jonathan. You'd have to move the radiator (or perhaps change it to a column and place in the corner?) but it'd be a nicer placement of the bed, better paths around the room and way more storage. Personally, I'd go one less wardrobe and have the vanity table and chair parallel to the bed with a large wall mirror and overhead shelves If you want a simpler option, option 1 looks the best solution....See MoreBecky
