Laundry Room Layout - finishing our unfinished basement

Our new laundry room will be 8'10" wide by 8' deep. We can install one pocket door anywhere along the 8'10" inside wall and the opposite 8"10" wall is an outside wall closest to plumbing. However my husband says our new laundry set could almost be set up anywhere, plumbing not an issue - it's not framed in yet so we are not limited by existing walls, electrical or plumbing.

Will we have a new set of front loading washer & dryer, a laundry sink of a decent useful size (suggestions?), a Greenway floor based drying rack measuring 25" x 55" set up that will be a permanent fixture in that room. Our goal is to have a small flat screen TV and a great counter (island?) space to fold laundry, and have as many functional cabinets installed as possible. Washer & dryer could either stack or be side by side in order to get best layout. They measure roughly 27W x 39H x 30D each.

Any suggestions on a layout? I struggle to envision layouts!

I have used pool tile in this laundry room and the cabinets are by IKEA and the best investment ever. I use a porcelain double sink for soaking items in one, and washing stuff in the other. Also added a drain the floor so that there is drainage for drip dry elements as well as a pocket for the iron. Hope this helps.

Hi there! I’d love to hear what you are using the under the stair spaces for. It looks like the bike could fit under the stairs near main entrance comfortably. You then could use the current bike area for the utility i.e. muddy stuff mops and sports equipment. As such you would need to install shelves to add on the storage space. I’d like to agree with Minipie that, if you really love for the bike area to remain as is, as I feel you might, the next best position for the utility is in the basement. The basement offers several advantages as compared to hiving off a space on G.F, especially when you consider the available space which you’d require to store all the stuff you said. I imagine sports equipment for example would need quite a generous area. I like the idea of a cosier retiring area for the library and I would really recommend an alterations for that. As for a pantry usable from the kitchen, options look really limited but I’d know what you think about moving the toilet across to the opposite void area, and then converting the new space to a pantry. It’s both proximal to the kitchen island, and will also not complicate the plumbing process, since you also want to introduce a sink in there. Hope this is useful! I think it looks amazing now you have moved the sofa. I agree with Jules, the footstool on the left is better as it breaks up the space between the kitchen and seating area. I would put a tall plant in though. This will help to lead the eye out into the garden which will make the space feel bigger. I would actually change the feature wall to a mirror as this will reflect in more light from outside and make the space feel bigger again. I think the world map wall decoration would lookabove the fire place, pictures and ribbon and all. I would also agree with the suggestion to change the curtain to something lighter. Note regarding the curtain rail this should either be just above the window line on just under the line of the ceiling. This helps the rail blend in with the existing lines instead of breaking up the space between the window and ceiling which makes the ceilings feel lower than they are. The kitchen and parkay flooring is to die for! Such an amazing space, I'm sure you're very proud!

Put in some good task lighting in the kitchen, dining (over the table) and sitting area in the form of pendants, led spots strategically placed in specific areas a few lamps in the sitting area (on a 5amp switch so centrally controlled and all dimmable to manage the mood 🤗) and a few strategically placed mirrors. The floor colour and wall colour will also impact how light the space feels so perhaps lighter finishes would work.
