Hello, what did you use to attach the glass to the bar top? Where can I find the attachments? Thanks Gillian

Hi. Are you removing the fire completely or replacing? Painting it in a vibrant colour may give it a modern feel. Are the curtains staying? Removing the cabinets is a great idea and the tv off the ŵall.I think you need a lamp on the side table for some height. I'd go for a warm grey on the ŵalls with your sofa. Try farrow and ball elephants breath (also paint the dado in the same unless you can remove it easily). You could go darker for the woodwork, maybe moles breath, if not a white with a hint of grey. You could try using dc fix (sticky back plastic) on the coffee table. Do the top in white marble and paint the rest in a dark grey. Would you paint the chairs or sideboard? It might be good to break up the wood a little. I'd invest in some good quality faux flowers for the table for some softness. A lamps or 2 on the sideboard with a cushion for the corner chair. You can really choose your accent colour. Oka do some fab cushions although they are pricey. Perhaps pair with a cheap solid or texture behind. I'd also remove the ŵall scone.

Many thanks Dale Loth Architects. Any idea who sells reputable demister pads and the size we should get? Quite a few sell them on line but keen to get a good one. Sorry dumb question but how do I get foil backing onto the mirror back? Is this something a glass/mirror cutter provides/can do? And how would you suggest we attach to glass tiles. I understand there needs to be space between the tiles and the mirror. Would you suggest a frame say 1000mm x500mm with demister pad inside? That's what we were thinking. Again any suggestions from any Professionals much appreciated.

I like how your bathroom is looking so far and the traditional style. I would go for a high quality, shower curtain in a gorgeous pattern. I love the ones from anthropologie for example. 1. My house will become like a greenhouse and get extremely hot in the Summer. Yes, this is a real risk. As part of the Building Regulations package a SAP calculation will need to be completed and a separate sub-calculation that assesses heat gain also completed. If the heat gain calc doesn't pass you may have to introduce shading, use heat reflective solar control glass [usually tinted] or reduce the amount of glass. Regardless of what the calc says I'd recommend using solar control glass as it always gets hotter than you think. Another option to consider, assuming you are installing MVHR [mechanical ventilation with heat recovery], is summer shut off function so the heat exchanger is not used so cooler air introduced. 2. Would lose heat in the winter as glass may not be as efficient as brick. Shouldn't be a problem as new modern windows [possibly triple glazed?] are very energy efficient. Although not as good as walls, roofs etc. they are very good. The whole house average energy consumption is also calculated so if lots of glass other methods are used to compensate such as more insulation elsewhere or better heating / energy sources. 3. Security is compromised. Might be a problem so ensure all glazing, windows and doors are PAS 24 / Secured by Design standard for entire assembly, frames, locks and glass etc. Laminated security glass etc. High performance solar control glass with enhanced security performance = expensive glass etc. The design looks nice and would lend itself nicely to timber frame construction.
