Kitchen Dresser

Hi guys.

We've put up a wall dresser in our kitchen which we are pleased with however wondered if anyone has any ideas on what to go underneath. We are going to lose the unit but want something in its place - only really to put the lamp. What would you suggest?

Or has anyone seen any small floor lamps that would go?

Any ideas or suggestions would be great. Thanks :)

I think whatever you go with needs to be pine like the shelves. I would try and get a table the same width as the shelves. One with two drawers would look good. Hope that helps

Thanks - I agree we can't have too much going on. Ideally I wanted a bit more space and not to have a large unit sticking out but can't seem to find a small pine side table/ lamp table. Not sure whether to put a house plant there but then we would have a lamp

wow stellahome, what a grand house and entrance! I'm intrigued! Do you have many original features left in the house? servant bells maybe? :) Post some pictures for us! I am very familiar with lassco, in fact I currently live 5 mins away from there, and pop in often, they have many wonderful items which really enhance an old house. Took a couple of more pictures today of the dresser, as even though it looks very worn, look at the dovetail joint details! They certainly don't make them like this anymore (unless you pay a hefty price for it!)

Hi I know im the odd one out but why not if it fits a space I rather like to see rules broken and think it keeps a room interesting and not so sterile I would play it off with accessories in the same tone as your fab modern kitchen and the fun is pulling it off using traditional and modern perhaps super modern pieces on your welsh dresser love your home love your individual style there should be no rules take a look at some of the modern eclectic kitchens on here so lovely and diffrrenti

Go with your instincts! You have a fairly monochrome room at the moment (love the flying ducks btw ;) so you can browse for some inspiration - try searching for painted hutch/dresser on Pinterest and you will get thousands of images, then choose whatever takes your fancy. I have a business refinishing furniture and at the moment I can sell anything as long as its grey, so if that's what you want to do you will be in good company :D The darker gunmetal greys look very effective, also indigo blues. Don't worry about fashion though as the beauty of paint is it can always be stripped off or painted over if you change your mind. Equally don't feel guilty about painting/altering the dresser either as I couldn't give it away in it's original finish these days :0 Good luck!

I was leaving the marital home for a basement flat and I was feeling a little vulnerable and hard done by. Just me and my little cat so we needed a lovely new bed, just for us. I bought a large wooded sleigh bed from a local family store. They were lovely and came round that afternoon with the bed in pieces. They put it all together and gave me a free new duvet set.
