Kitchen size - help help help

Hi, I'm currently in the process of buying my first home and we're planning on having our kitchen replaced straight away.

I currently don't have any drawings, however I've noticed there are some people on here with a very good eye who can give a rough estimate room size by looking at the photos? Please see attached.

If anyone could help work out the kitchen size without the dining space so I can start finding some quotes that would be amazing.

Danielle, have you tried the estate agent for the room sizes?

I think it'd be pretty much impossible for anyone to guess the dimensions with much accuracy but even if you knew them you couldn't possibly get anywhere near a quote for a new kitchen with just some dimensions. You need to get someone in to quote you or at the very least, measure up properly before you can start.

The final cost will depend on the type of furniture, appliances and worktops you want (as well as the prep and installation costs). What you budget will determine what you get too!

Am pretty sure that if I was a kitchen designer I wouldn't spend hours working out the cost of a kitchen that likely won't fit.
However I have met several who could tell you if the budget you have in mind is enough to fill the space and perhaps direct you to some of the cabinet and worktop choices in your budget so that you can start to get excited about eventually planning your kitchen.
It might even be possible for the company you choose to visit the house to measure with the current owners permission.
What area are you in? Perhaps people could offer recommendations for kitchen studios?

Hi Aggie and Dytecture, I love the Dytecture kitchen photo but think the ceiling is higher than 11.5 ft. In my case I have concrete beam/ lintel at 8 ft height so if I put sink below the window then the window height is not more than 4.5 ft from the sink top up to the beam . I have kept window width 5.5 ft to have some space in the corners. All other windows in the house are 8ft tall from floor. Please suggest . All ideas are welcome.

A larger window to the smaller bifolding doors would mean you get more kitech units, therefore more storage. So it would be beneficial to have a large window rather than bi folding doors on the smaller side. Saying that, Bi-folding doors do look great and they make the place feel more spcious. So the other option you have is to support the upper part of the wall with a RCJ (Steel) and have the bi-folding doors all the way across which would look great. I would say the bare minimum you'd need to go for really is around 1.5m in either direction. That will make your Kitchen run of cabinets 2.8m long. I don't know what the layout of the kitchen is, but you can save room by having a washing machine under the drainer of the sink etc. If you can lose basically a 1200mm double base unit plus another 300mm then it may be do'able. All depends on what you've got where really.

Your house looks a similar dimension to my house which I just sold. I kept the wall dividing the receptions rooms but took the wall down between the kitchen and back reception room. you could get someone like B&Q to come and mock up a design. you're not obliged to buy from them and it's free. You will have a better idea of the dimensions rather than risk some one estimating.
