Scandi inspired Bedroom

Hi,
So I thought I would gauge people's reactions to how we have updated our new homes bedroom. It's a 1930's semi which has a lot of potential behind all of the artexing and textured wallpaper which you can't see too well in the first photo. We have had a full rewire, new boiler, and are now slowly starting to re-plaster all the rooms, sand all of the floorboards, and install new radiators and lights. Would be great to hear people's thoughts. I know the pared back Scandinavian style isn't to everyone's taste but any feedback is welcome.

Great update and I can definitely see the move towards scandi style - which luckily I love! The single pendant/bulb is a nice touch for the bedroom to create a cosier atmosphere. One of the great things about scandi style, and a common misconception, is that everything has to be bare. Depending on how much you'd like to invest and how minimal you like your bedroom looking, I would definitely look in to some plants and open shelving. You could dot a few leafy numbers across the shelf or alternatively if plants aren't your thing, go for some prints and create a gallery shelf! Really great work so far though - sure you're pleased and hope this helps!

Thanks Tom, I do like the look of the greenery in the concrete pot, I may have to steal that one. I have had pictures just propped up on a shelf before but a breeze from an open window smashed all of the pictures and ornaments so I've avoided shelves ever since!

Have you had a look at a golden colour for the walls, it works amazing with that muted pink colour... http://www.pippajamesoninteriors.co.uk/2015/trends/dulux-colour-of-the-year-2016-cherished-gold/ Or if you go for a more neutral wall colour brighten the room up with vibrant bed linen, perhaps a pattern or if your more into plain colours then go for a linen that super luxurious, it will instantly make the room look more luxurious.

That is a really lovely bed! and love Danielles idea of dark walls, keeping everything very natural colours. If you're wanting a refresh for your bedroom a quick way is to just switch up your sheets... you could have soft natural linens that would compliment your bed and when you fancy a change pop some colour on the bed?

Hi honeypoppet, the greyish navy in the second picture could work as my son isn’t keen on white or neutrals and would work well with the ski theme (pictures of mountains, snow etc). Only concern would be the ‘corridor’ into the room may be very dark but will get some tester pots in those colours. Thanks!

I like clean lines and an uncluttered look , but your room , whilst very well finished , is a little too stark for me . I too think a large plant and even a rug ( IKEA have a great selection ) would give it comfort without compromising your style . I do like the bed runner .

Thanks Ali, I'm glad you like the finish! I'll definitely be investing in a plant once I've found a nice concrete pot. My partner is trying to convince me to get a rug but I spent too many back breaking hours sanding up that floor to consider covering it! Maybe that will come in time when I have to sand the rest of the floors and this one will become a distant memory.

I liked the way you have changed the feel of the room and would only add/change a few things. I think the timber bed is a bit too much with all the other timber - painting it black would really show off all the hard work you put into the floor rather than competing with it. The bare windows are very stark - a simple black pole with lightweight white linen curtains would be great. Finally a splash of green would lift the scheme -either a plant as previously suggested, or a cushion in the chair.

Hi can see you have been working hard and love the transformation unveiling its self keep it simple and fuss free as you seem to like this look but a little luxury perhaps a fur throw on the end of the bed and then some very select items that are personal to you, keep going. By the way love the original headboard in first pic and the doors are simply lovely. Can just see your landing and stairs which look great too more please of this house/home becareful what you change as to me has a beautiful feel about it already. hope to see more

Hi, love what you have done here! A definite improvement on the first pic! I think sometimes you have to live in a space to feel what needs to be added. Don't rush into anything, although I am in favour of concrete and loads of natural materials which you have used in this scheme, and think a plant would add "life" to the scheme! Well done!

Looking great - what a transformation. We too have taken on a 30s semi this time. Have gone quite modern in kitchen and bedroom (look at my Instagram @styleophile UK ) and Scandi elsewhere (have done playroom like a log cabin !).

you can get great concrete plant pots at Hay.

i would put a tug on the floor under the bed with it just poking out at the sides - you'll get a softer feel and won't cover up all the floors - which are lovely btw.

Personally I think a print would just finish it off beautifully - and I like the idea of painting the bed dark too !

We love the Scandi style for bedrooms and you're well on the way with your bedroom. Have you thought about adding some more texture? Maybe with a nice rug or something just to add a touch of warmth to the space?
