Is that faux grass? I love how thick & fluffy it appears! Can you tell me where I can get a thick faux grass rug like this for my deck? Thank you, kindly :-)

Hi robynsykes, the grass is not a rug. It is an installed artificial turf. It does look like a rug though, doesn't it!

I can see the benefits of artificial grass but my concern is the impact it must have on wildlife. When you think of all the birds you see feeding from a lawn, it's got to be bad news surely? I think in the future it will be frowned upon much like it is now with all the people who tarmaced over their front gardens and the damaging impact that had on the natural environment.

I think with such a small garden I would create a patio courtyard garden rather than a lawn. Tiny lawns are rarely successful, especially when you have a dog. I got rid of my lawn as the dogs had turned it into a pee ridden mess! I laid Indian sandstone instead. Plus points are your fencing looks great as does your shed. I would remove the washing line and get a retractable one, so you can pull out when in use and it pops back into its casing when not in use. So much tidier! Im thinking extend the patio, but leave borders of 1 metre all around for planting. If you don’t do this it has too much of a car park look. You won’t need raised beds unless you particularly want them. I can suggest plants if you wish. Here’s some ideas, the first pic is some of my garden.

Here is a photo taken just over a year ago of our New Zealand grass. Looks similar to yours I think. It started to go yellow all over. We then cut it all down to the bottom and now, 6 weeks later it’s recovering well. This is what it looks like now: Here you can see the old yellow grass ’leftovers’.

Wow! That might be a bit large to stick in a vase! 😂 I had some growing in the garden and brought it indoors to put in a vase but it just looked like bunches of wheat - not really the look I was going for - so I ordered some fluffier pampus from Etsy. Hopefully it will look a bit more decorative.
