Comments (2)Hi, More information is needed for us to help you out. Pictures are vital, also tell us about the lighting situation - Is it a bright, well lit hallway or is it dark and dingy? Are the stairs carpeted? Is there a bannister? Are the stairs of a more victorian style? (Like this: https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/cleeves-house-traditional-staircase-berkshire-phvw-vp~2558849 ) There are a number of tasteful colour schemes for hallways that are popular at the moment but it comes down to your tastes. Take some good pictures and we'll give you the guidance you're after. Regards KB...See MoreHelp: ideas for painting hallway and stairs/landing
Comments (3)I agree the grey-green colour is lovely, and it's quite restful so I don't think it would be too much if you wanted to do the whole lot in that colour. Also it would go very nicely with the parquet. However if you want to break it up, you could consider installing a dado rail and have colour under the dado and white/neutral above, or vice versa. You could even install panelling up to dado height. I don't know whether panelling or dado rails are strictly authentic for 1930s, you would have to check that, but I think it would look ok even if not authentic, as long as the style is simple. One more thought, are you going to carpet the stairs? (They look lovely bare but will be very noisy I imagine). If so I would advise choosing carpet first and then paint to go with the carpet - much easier than trying to match carpet to paint!...See MorePlease help me pick a colour for my hall, stairs & landing
Comments (15)Well what a coincident! Visited a friend yesterday who is having her hallway, stairs and landing painted on Monday and wanted my advice (!). She has chosen a Karndean style herringbone floor for her hall and a soft check stair carpet in a warm caramel colour. Staircase is oak and glass. Not much natural light in the hall. We looked through loads of paint charts but she didn’t want the expense of F&B or Little G. Then we both felt Dulux Caramel Latte or Caramel Blush would look good. She later bought some matchpots and loves both shades, so she’s having the Latte on one wall and the Blush on the rest. They are lovely warm tones with very appropriate names!...See MorePaint colour suggestions for hallway, stairs and landing
Comments (28)Hiya, we have a Victorian hallway and it is done very similar to Rukmini’s first image. We have a greeny grey under the dado (including the skirting and dado itself) and on the doors and architraves. It’s Blanket by Paint & Paper library which is a little darker than Rukmini’s pic. Then an off white above the dado and on the ceiling. It used to be off white all over and the grey definitely has made it darker. On the other hand it also feels smarter and shows the marks less! Swings and roundabouts. I wouldn’t have three colours, I would pick one colour plus off white above the dado/picture rail (Pointing seems sensible!!) Your tiles look browny grey so would suggest looking at Ammonite by F&B and its family of colours - (Cornforth White, Purbeck Stone). See below for the F&B families of greys. If you want bluey or greeny greys then Paint & Paper Library are a good source but be careful to see if they will go with your tiles....See MoreSue Derrick
