Different colour on landing?

I am having my hallway painted in Little Greene Pearl Mid (similar to F&B Cromarty) but there is a large wall at the top of the stairs which would be great for a gallery wall. I was wondering if it would work to paint this in a darker colour, possibly Vardo by F&B as it will pick up the colour of the tiles in the hallway downstairs.

I love the idea, it's nice to put a full length mirror at the top of stairs too, and your darker colour would frame it nicely. Difficult to see exactly without a picture of the hall and staircase, but sounds good x

Hi, I'm currently going through the same issue, Trying to find the right combo of paints to paint the hallway. I am looking to panel the part beneath the dado to prevent the ever so frustrating scuffing which occurs at sharp corners and am unsure on the colour combo. I was considering grey and white too but I'm scared that it may make the space feel too cold and dull especially as the only light will be through the door which won't be much. What colour combo's would you recommend to make the space feel luxurious and modern, yet not too clinical and cold?? I'd like the paint to be dulux preferably. what is the quality of Valspar paint like, I've seen it at DIY stores but don't know if it reaches standard of dulux? any reviews?? thanks

Noticing that the replacement doors are modern in design and the stairs are not. A firm called stair box, they are on the net, have sections of oak which you can clad old fashioned stair newel posts so they match modern doors and decor. They even have the caps and oak veneer for the stringers.

With white woodwork, I suggest painting the walls and woodwork in semi-gloss white. White woodwork and walls will make the space visually larger, and semi-gloss paint reflects light and is easy to clean.

Well what a coincident! Visited a friend yesterday who is having her hallway, stairs and landing painted on Monday and wanted my advice (!). She has chosen a Karndean style herringbone floor for her hall and a soft check stair carpet in a warm caramel colour. Staircase is oak and glass. Not much natural light in the hall. We looked through loads of paint charts but she didn’t want the expense of F&B or Little G. Then we both felt Dulux Caramel Latte or Caramel Blush would look good. She later bought some matchpots and loves both shades, so she’s having the Latte on one wall and the Blush on the rest. They are lovely warm tones with very appropriate names!

This is the landing from the top floor I don't have a picture from downstairs but will try and take one

Clearer picture, obviously a work in progress! Stairs will be sanded and painted with a grey runner.
