Colour advice for hall, stairs and landing
Comments (1)It looks like I may need to repaint my stairs, banisters and spindles etc as the knotting is starting to show through. Big job which I could do without but I was thinking of taking the opportunity to do something a little more contemporary. Does anyone have any tips? In the entryway/hallway/stairs wall I was thinking of painting the walls shaded white by farrow and ball. I wanted to use a feature colour or wallpaper on the landing upstairs. I plan on using Purbeck stone in the bedroom off the landing so something which compliments this would be good. so to sum up...1. Complimenting colours for my banisters to give a classic contemporary scheme to go with shaded white and Purbeck stone. 2. A feature colour for my landing... I can post a pic if anyone is interested....See MoreHelp choosing paint colour/s for hallway and landing space
Comments (14)Hi, I'm currently going through the same issue, Trying to find the right combo of paints to paint the hallway. I am looking to panel the part beneath the dado to prevent the ever so frustrating scuffing which occurs at sharp corners and am unsure on the colour combo. I was considering grey and white too but I'm scared that it may make the space feel too cold and dull especially as the only light will be through the door which won't be much. What colour combo's would you recommend to make the space feel luxurious and modern, yet not too clinical and cold?? I'd like the paint to be dulux preferably. what is the quality of Valspar paint like, I've seen it at DIY stores but don't know if it reaches standard of dulux? any reviews?? thanks...See MoreHallway colour schemes
Comments (2)When you say banister do you mean handrail? The joinery company I'm associated with do heaps of these makeovers. It's a very popular choice so go for it. You can swap the handrail to a timber one and have glass on the sides as opposed to spindles. The glass can be in big or small pieces and can be inserted direct into the base rail or you can have glass holders. You can leave the side of the stairs as they are or also have them laminated in timber to match the handrail. It looks lovely when it's done....See MoreHallway colour scheme help
Comments (8)Thank you Saddaf and Sonia, our hall is South East facing and the front near the door gets a good amount of light but on a cloudy day the way leading to the dining room, which only has one window is quite dark and we have a lot of woodwork there so we're thinking that area needs to be white. We've found another idea which we absolutely love, do you think we should go with this colour scheme but paint the skirting boards black and the rest of the wall the off white and the dado rail the same colour so it disappears or should we paint the wall under the dado rail black too? I've posted more pics of our hall so you can get an idea....See Morehoneypoppet
