Living room...just can't get it to work
Comments (47)Hi Lauren, Reading this I think you don't love it yet because there is too much contracts between the dark sofa and the light wall. Paint the wall, don't worry about light- that is a massive window. Don't worry about it feeling smaller - it won't I also agreed that the curtains need to be on a wider pole or the window should be dressed with an additional something (wood slatted blind?)...See MoreFinishing touches for our new living room
Comments (17)Hi there, I'm wondering how you're getting on?!! How about a Bali pod by the sofa arm with the throw on? You could have a bespoke piece to add interest and colour ....and also allow you to sit comfortably in the sofa with a drink close by (rather than having to reach to the coffee table every time you want a sip!). This is the sort of thing I'm thinking.....our pods come in 7 shapes, 5 core fabrics and loads of colours ...or you can use your own fabric, so you can make quite a personalised statement!! I've attached a link to an example of a swatch which would go with your scheme...Good luck with all your plans! http://mellowduck.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/SandringhamCamel600x600-138x138.jpg...See MoreLiving room dilemmas, I can't get it right!
Comments (19)I'm typing with my laptop on a single bed/pouffe which I use as a coffee table with slip proof black waiters tray on when people come over. Re throws, you could fold them over an arm so they're handy when you want to snuggle up. Personally I literally 'THROW' mine and see where they land!!! I agree with everything Minnie says - as always, she's a wise and clever lady - and I would pull the corner sofa away from the back wall to just the other side of the bit of wall that juts out. Then you have the perfect space for an amazing lamp. Look at Wayfair or Not On The High Street as well as, of course, Houzz, under the lighting section. The other chair could be placed to face the garden as a reading chair if it doesn't obstruct your TV viewing, but I'd try it anyway as, if it looks good, the TV can be moved. Not sure if the TV is on a wall bracket but it might be worth doing that. Cushions with the same colours as the wall art would be good. I have a number of CYGNUS PAPILIO cushions by JOSEPH ALEXANDER GOODE. They also do bedding now so, if you're handy with a sewing machine, you could make a few cushion covers from one single duvet. It's a lovely room!...See MoreHouse renovation - can't decide what improvements to make
Comments (12)i'd try and put downstairs WC underneath the stairs - external wall for pipes and get a window too. The space you have for WC in extension plans could be used for pantry or tall cupboards/fridge set back into the space so they don't stick into the kitchen. Have you thought about making Bed4 into family bathroom and turning existing bathroom into office or storage space? With it having an external wall to the side it might not be too difficult for sewage/waste pipes (assuming they already run down the side of the house). But really you're just getting a slightly bigger bathroom and the bathroom you have looks like a fairly typical UK bathroom so maybe just make the most of it. Adding a toilet downstairs is much more valuable I'd say. Regarding loft - I don't think you need a bathroom up there unless it's the main bedroom suite - for kids or occasional guests I'd say its ok to make them come downstairs for loo/shower. I'd leave that alone for now and maybe add a dormer at a later date if/when you have the money or feel like you need a loo/shower up there....See MoreLirash
