Our new kitchen
Comments (22)I think that is a lot better. YAY! You'll get good flow from the utility straight into the kitchen with your shopping bags, coats, etc. and it looks like there'll be enough space in the "extended hall" to use it constructively. I do have a couple more questions/suggestions: - The doorway from the utility with the fridge next to it - if the fridge door is open, you won't be able to get through. Also, because the area next to the fridge is all wall cabinets, you might have the "where do I dump things?" issue. I would put another counter on the left wall between the two banks of cupboards. It'll probably only be two or three cabinets and counter, but I think it'll be handy. OR you could put the FF there. - I'd centre the hob on the island, but I think that is a good spot for it. - The other thing is something One Plan raised - walk in pantry? You could have part of the utility dedicated to this, or do you think you'll have enough food storage with the wall cupboard near the ovens (I assume this will be a pull out number as these are really handy to be able to see everything....See MoreOur new kitchen
Comments (1)What a beautiful room! I tried to find some banquette seating that was modern - unfortunately none of them have a layout similar to yours, so use your imagination! You might be better off with just a bench as I wouldn't want you to block those beautiful windows. I would also add an island - something simple and sleek and probably something on casters, so you can move it out of the way if you want to. Do you have any lights in there? I can't see any! Get the other furniture first, but you could have a pendant light over the dining area and then have another fixture that is above the island. Be careful because you don't want something that casts a shadow behind you when you are working in the main part of the kitchen. Good luck....See MoreNeed help with our new kitchen extension layout
Comments (6)I like Option 2 honestly. Obviously you are finding it hard to visalize what the space will look like but honestly that is a huge space so I would recommend putting in the utility considering what you gain from it. You gain a space where you can block out the sound of the washing machine- who wants that sound when your eating dinner? Also washing is unsightly- do you wants piles of clothes in your nice brand spanking new kitchen? In terms of the corridor you are going to have lots of light coming through from the new extension. When you enter the front door and can see straight through to the garden spaces feel much bigger than they actually are anyway. Also who says it has to be boring. Have some fun wallpaper or colourful art hanging. Also if you want to make something more spacious use sliding doors for utility and wc. Less items infringing on corridor space. And lastly, the reception is purely personal preference based upon how your family function. Personally I prefer two rooms. Allows for more space to get away from the open plan area. Mini adults room and a kids room/study. Hope this helps...See MoreOur new kitchen before & after
Comments (32)In an earlier post you said you were having a sofa and TV in the room too. I'm having an extension built and my kitchen will be a similar size to yours. I'm hoping to fit a dining table and sofa in the room, however I can't picture the space at the moment. I'd love to see a photo of your kitchen with the sofa and tv in it as it would help me with my layout....See Morelilyanddaisy
