Need help to dress a huge kitchen sliding door/window!!
Comments (6)We have a similarly sized window and after much research and deliberation opted for 3 x silentgliss roller blinds inside the window recess plus wave curtains. The blinds are in a translucent fabric to screen the sunlight and are electrically operated so there is no chain hanging down. They can be adjusted individually to suit where we need to screen the sun. We went for black fabric as surprisingly it is more translucent than white so we can still see out on a sunny day when the blinds are down. The curtain tracks are quite long so we can draw the curtains right back and they don't obstruct the door or block the view/light. We have a wonderful view and are not overlooked but find that much bare window is not comfortable feeling at night (just a big black shiny space!) so the unlined linen curtains make the room cozy and also provide acoustic softening which prevents the room being too 'echoey'. The wave tracks are great as with a big window you have a lot of curtain but they need less fabric than standard tracks so stack more compactly. Enjoy your home!...See MoreAdvice on how to dress large unusual windows
Comments (2)Think if you need heavier curtains for winter I would have them on the inside wall, pushed right back so they don't encroach on the window at all (sort of hung to the side) and in the same tone as the wall so they blend in. Personally I would let them look in as it's a lovely window...failing that maybe hang a sheer on the lower window so you can still get light and the shape at the top??...See MoreWindow dressing bay and side window
Comments (6)Going with a roman blind would be a good choice, the soft fabric won't look out of place next to the curtain - https://www.makemyblinds.co.uk/roman-blinds/...See MoreKitchen Diner needing some warmth...
Comments (46)Today, I got out all my F&B sample pots and painted those on cards. There are too many to list but around 7 colours in the grey/greige family. However to my surprise there is a company near me that does the full range of Little Greene Paints! I went to take a look through their samples and came up with these neutral/greys. I took a floor tile with me which the samples are sitting on top of in the picture. After looking through them all I decided to buy Slaked Lime 105, Slaked Lime Dark 151 and Rolling Fog 143 to paint on cards at home and put them in different areas of the room, against cupboards and furniture etc. One of the colours appear to blend best with the floor and the other blends better with the worktop...which is the best option? I’m guessing the floor? Also, if I tried the darker shade of either colour on one wall, for the lighter neutral walls should I use the same colour but the lighter version of the colour Example - Rolling Fog143 (darker wall) then Rolling Fog Pale158?...See MoreJeanette Card
