Hi Silvia- sorry for our delay in response, we haven't been on Houzz too much! The area rug in the photo was purchased at Target for $199. They come in several different colors as well. I don't know the specific name of the pattern of rug, sorry. I hope this helps.

Just to let you guys know, I took a combination of advice from this thread and a previous one about my bedroom and tried to add texture. I found lamps similar to the ones you posted Minnie, and I added a textured cushion, a feather light shade, and some frames to be hung above the bed which I'll put black and white pictures in. I think I've made vast improvements (IMHO :) ) but you may think it still needs work. The sun was blazing in the window which had the odd effect of making the room look dull, but it is truly a bright, fresh room most days! I think the footstool is clunky at the end of the bed and I'll probably put it in another room. But I thought I'd show you my progress :) and thank you for all your advice everyone.

Most good carpet suppliers can have a rug made for you out of any carpet they stock. If you ask to look at the 5m wide carpets, they can then have them edged in a variety of ways.

I think you feel it looks too solid is because you haven’t followed through with the rest of the room, for example cushions to tie in with it. Further up these comments minnie101 has suggested some black patterned cushions which i think would lift the scheme, however if you really don’t like it then follow your heart and return it. Why keep something you don’t like? Then choose a colour-way that you prefer, such as the blue you suggested. A blue coastal theme would tie in nicely with the neutral theme you have at the moment. By the way, i got a Turkish rug from Olney Carpets in Bucks, and they let us take it home for a week to see if we liked it before buying! True service, and yes we did buy it! Of course buying online does give you that option too. I wish you lots of luck.
