Backsplash

Love the kitcken, can you please tell me what the name of the backsplash you used? Also can you tell me, would this backsplash work with my multi- earthy tone color slate floor and Uba Tuba counters.

Unfortunately,
that tile has been discontinued. It was a Florida Tile product. It
was meant to replicate the strong color variation effect of slate in a smooth
porcelain tile, for easy cleaning. The tile is 6 X 6, set in a
square pattern to make the color variations be the prominent feature.

Today, Florida
Tile and most tile manufacturers produce some form of a slate and stone tile
reproductions in their porcelain tile offering. The bold variations in
color, like natural slate and travertines, is very popular in today’s
backsplash design.

As for as the
floor tile and the backsplash tile combination, I often use the color palette
from the floor tiles in the backsplash. You do not have to use the exact
tile or tile colors, but have some of the dominate color should repeat into the
backsplash tile. Using the same dark gray or brown grout to tie the two
surfaces together is another design technique.

Are you saying the glass splashback is the wrong size because it doesn’t go all the way up to the extractor fan? If so I’d guess that they’ve installed a standard size as opposed to a purpose made size. If so l would just take that one down and get a taller one made. You could always have the splashback all the way across the wall. l don’t think it needs tiles too. You could add a tint of colour with the emulsion,

Hi Adrian, thanks for the details - love the Caraz! Absolutely on trend colour, and a nice calm, sophisticated palette. Always amazes me just how much influence ambient light has, as the pictures show both to be even warmer in reality. With that info, I think I'd still be opting for white/off-white close to your worktop colour - on, if suitable, using the worktop material as a splashback, but you'd need to check with the manufacturer on suitability close to gas flame. Not all would be permissible. An alternative would be to go with whatever you have picked as flooring tile, if available in large enough size, then cut & edge to suit. Now that large format tiles are becoming so popular, we're finding clients opting for this more frequently, to add a bit more texture compared to flat, plain glass.

I have tiles on one wall by the sink, and mirror in a darker area. I also have wallpaper over the other (non-cooking) side of the kitchen. It's great! Do what works for you.
